Mike wheeler has recently come to a few realizations
1) his mutual break up with eleven was perhaps the best thing to happen to either of them.2) his family was pretty screwed up, what with his parents in the hospital, his little sister missing, and him and his elder sister going through inter dimensional horrors to save her.
3) as the timing would have it, he was horrendously deep in love with someone. Someone who was a boy.

Summary
"Truth or dare?" James asked Sirius with a wicked grin on his face.
Sirius had seen that grin before, right before certain doom, usually for Slytherins. He grinned back. "Dare!"
"I dare you," James said imperiously then he glanced around at the group. "Wait, wait, this is a secret dare. Everyone has to swear to secrecy, got it?"
Everyone nodded.
"I dare Sirius to convince the school that he's dating Remus," James said gleefully. "But we can't make it too easy! You can't kiss him or anything more than that in public, and you can't call him your boyfriend or tell anyone you're dating, nothing like that, got it?"
A few people oohed, turning to face Sirius.
"I accept," he said. "Wait, wait, wait, do I get to tell Remus?"
"No!" multiple people shouted at him.
"Oooh, sorry, Sirius. Looks like the people have decided," James said, still grinning.
Sirius should perhaps have not started on the dare by gifting Remus with bacon as it was apparently against lycanthropic dietary restrictions.

Lily looked to Remus who was staring at his paper blankly, clearly still worrying about the article. James was in the middle of telling her all about the upcoming quidditch game, to no avail. “Y’know, you could always get him back.” Lily spoke to him.
“What?” Remus responded.
“Prank him back.”
—After Sirius perpetually embarrasses Remus in front of the entire school, Remus decides to enact his revenge by convincing the school Sirius is secretly enamored with him. Sirius diverts Remus's expectations when he starts to play along.
