Summary
“I could help you, you know,” says Ed. “Like, the reinventing yourself bit. Or figuring it out.”
Hope hops on its feet, attempting takeoff. “You would?”
“‘Course I would, mate. You’re my best friend.”

Recently divorced, Stede isn't sure where to start on the whole "getting himself out there" thing. Ed offers to help, so they write out a list of Stede’s goals. The only problem? They both may be just slightly in love with each other. They just don't know it yet.

GOD, THIS STORY 🫠 i don't think i could name a single other fic that gives the atmosphere this one does!! something like--"mundane", but in a good way? "GROUNDED", maybe...?
something like looking at a Norman Rockwell painting--but like if he were unabashedly queer, i guess! just depictions of mundane events but with a sense of humor & sentimentality weaved in! maybe? LOOK I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO ELABORATE, PLEASE JUST READ THIS!!(& READ ALL THE AUTHOR'S OTHER FICS WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, THEY'RE FUCKIN AMAZING)
ps dear author im sorry this is not a comment 🥺 im very shy but pls keep up the good work, ain't nobody does horniness between two old men like you 🫡 god bless

Summary
When Ed gets stuck behind the same slow driver for a long stretch of his road trip through the Pacific Northwest, that's one thing. When he finds himself at the same rest stop as the offending driver, it's quite another.
This Stede guy is a bit of a lunatic. But when Ed crosses paths with him again several days later, this time stranded on the side of the highway and in need of some assistance, Ed winds up on a slightly different road trip than the one he'd planned to take—with a man he absolutely doesn't plan to fall in love with.
Clearly, plans change.
