Summary
They have been in the store for forty-five minutes (forty-four of which involve various, grumbling complaints from Carol) before Helen notices the garden section.
“Oh my God, look at this thing,” Helen exclaims, coming to an abrupt halt in front of a plant. Carol, begrudgingly pushing the cart, almost crashes straight into her legs, but manages to catch herself before that actually happens.
She steps around to stand beside Helen, peering down at the plant. She looks at it, really looks at it, then looks back at Helen. “It’s forty-five dollars. For a flower. Forty-five, Helen. Four and then a five.”

Summary
Time passes again, constantly leaving her behind. She’s stuck in the past, in the present, and everything in between. Nothing sticks, and nothing leaves, and yet, she stays in the garden each night.
She talks to her sometimes, because, fuck, she can’t get a therapist unconnected from those that are Joined, and Carol and Manousos are far too busy trying to save the world, or more accurately, fighting each other tooth and nail at any given moment, to sit down and talk out her struggles, leaving her very limited options.
So, she decides on Helen. Or, Helen’s grave.

“You’re assembling it wrong,” Helen chirps, sprawled out on the couch. Her legs are propped up against the arm, feet balancing so as not to let her shoes touch the fabric. She watches Carol from a short distance, eyes fixed on the flexed muscles of her biceps, tensing as she pushes the plywood into position. “That piece is supposed to be on the back.”
“I thought you were leaving,” Carol replies with a huff.
