Summary
“This isn’t about the sleep talking again, is it?”
Buck freezes and his voice raises an octave.
“What? No. Of course not.”
“Buck, it’s just nonsense, okay? I know it’s kind of freaky, but you just gotta ignore it. I already talked to Hen and Frank about it. They both said it’s nothing to be concerned about and that it’ll probably pass soon.”
“Easy for you to say, man. You’re not the one getting woken up about it in the middle of the night by your boyfriend speaking in tongues.”

Summary
“Do you think we would have met if this hadn’t happened?” Buck asks him softly and Eddie doesn’t really have an answer.
“I don’t know.”
“I think we would have.” Buck says it like he’s certain somehow. As if as sure as the sun rises and sets, Buck and Eddie were meant to meet. Eddie doesn’t really believe in fate or destiny, but he thinks maybe he might be starting to believe in Buck and he supposes that’s enough.

Summary
He’ll have a little bit more time after this moment to commit to memory the exact color of the paint, the weird squishy corner of the living room floor, the pattern of the backsplash in the kitchen that Buck has slung pasta sauce on more times than he can count, the hot chocolate stain in the carpet in Christopher’s room.
Tonight isn’t goodbye, but a wave of wistfulness washes through Eddie anyway.

Summary
The actual extraction wasn’t really the tiring part of the call itself. That was mostly from listening to Buck flirt with the poor guy to distract him while Eddie worked. It isn’t exactly a surprise to hear Buck flirting with someone. It’s sort of new that it’s a man, but that’s not really the point. Buck is sort of sunshine personified, a real people person, always has been. Logically, Eddie knows that Buck probably clocked the pride pin on the man’s apron and was trying to make him feel at ease while Eddie attended to the gnarly task of salvaging the man’s hand, but something in Eddie still… bristles.
Or
Eddie comes to the realization that he is in love with his best friend three weeks too late.

Summary
“Oh, hey, green this time,” Buck’s voice filters in as he swings around the corner of the railing. “What flavor is that? Watermelon or green apple?” He doesn’t pause to let Eddie answer though. “Or maybe strawberry? Although, I think Haribo are the only ones that do that. S’weird though, don’t you think? Strawberry isn’t green, it should be red.”
Eddie, who hasn’t looked up from his book — he’s mastered the art of splitting his attention, by now — snorts and curls his hand into a fist. The ring pop is lodged halfway down his middle finger, a little tight around the knuckle but secure. He stretches his arm out towards Buck, a silent offering.
Buck brightens and veers towards Eddie’s side of the couch. His fingers wind around Eddie’s wrist to steady it and he draws Eddie’s hand up, ducking down halfway to meet it.
He hums delightedly, as he gets his answer.

Summary
It's a Thursday evening, at the end of a 24-hour shift, and Eddie is in the bathroom at the house brushing his teeth when Buck leans in the doorway behind him and says, "I'm going to take a shower."
It's such an ordinary thing to say–Buck says it five times a week, minimum–except that Eddie's brain snags on the tik tok video from a few days ago, and his mouth moves before he thinks better of it.
"Information or invitation?"
He says it in the exact tone of someone delivering a punchline, light and a little teasing, clearly expecting Buck to groan at the callback and go shower alone. It is a joke. It is absolutely, entirely a joke, and the correct response from Buck would be a tired chuckle.
Buck doesn't laugh.
He meets Eddie's eyes in the mirror, something shifting behind his face, and says, "Invitation."There is a silence.
It's the kind of silence that Eddie can feel on his skin, that is doing something specific to the air between them, and he watches his own face in the mirror very carefully and does not turn around.
------------
Or: A buddie fic inspired by the tiktok "information or invitation?" shower trend.

Summary
"That is. Okay. Where do I start." Pushing off the counter — hands need to be free for this. "Number one. That is not how being secure in your sexuality works. Number two. That is the opposite of how it works. Number three. Most straight men who are secure in their sexuality do not, as a method of confirming this, seek out gay sex. That is— Eddie, that is gay. The thing you are describing is gay. The act of doing it is gay. There is no version of this where you end up more straight at the other end."
Eddie scoffs. "You don't know that."
"I do know that."
"You don't."
"Eddie, I am bi. I have personally conducted this experiment. The results are in."
Or,
Eddie asks Buck to fuck him to prove he's straight. Things go about as well as you'd think.Series

Summary
"So," Buck says, sliding onto the seat next to Eddie while the auction winds down around them. "Mystery bidder. That's exciting."
Eddie takes a very deliberate sip of water. "Yep."
"You know who it was?"
"Nope."
"You don't even seem curious," Buck tries.
"Not really."
"Someone spent over two grand on you, Eddie. On a date with you. Like a date-date. With food and conversation. And you're just— what, chill about it?"
Eddie shrugs. The picture of nonchalance. "It's for charity."
"It's for— okay." Buck gapes. He’s got nothing. He’s standing at the door and Eddie has deadbolted it from the inside. "Cool. Great."
It is not cool. It is not great. Buck is aware that his definition of cool and great has always been somewhat flexible, but this doesn't qualify under any interpretation.
Or,
Buck just wants to know who bid on Eddie. That's it. That's all he wants. He's being totally normal about it.Bookmarked by strawberrybard

Summary
Before Eddie can think of any more excuses, Buck bursts back through the surface of the water with Eddie’s body in his arms.
Eddie looks down at himself, still kneeling on the dock, and then at what is unmistakably also him in the water. Buck sucks in a great gasp of air, but the Eddie in the water doesn’t. His head slumps limp onto Buck’s shoulder, and the puzzle pieces of the last few minutes suddenly fall into place.
Finding himself back on the dock with no memory of how he got there. Buck unable to see or hear him. Eddie’s hand passing right through him.
Oh. He didn’t make it out of the water. He drowned.
***
After an injury on a call, Eddie finds himself something he never expected to be...
A ghost.
