    Summary

Klavier stared through the window in silence. In that silence, Simon could hear his reprisals of the past.

Unattainable approval. Standards never to be met. A throne of lies that he had been too naïve to see Kristoph’s manicured hands construct, even as his own—scarred from guitars and stained with ink—followed in their act, desperate for cheers and applause as they used the tools forged before them. And all of it, he had done with an eager, show-stopping smile.

Klavier did not smile now. He only continued to stare with a severity that hardened his eyes and cast stark shadows upon his features.

Kristoph Gavin stared back. A smile pulled at his lips. It did not fit among the gaunt features of his countenance, his eyes shadowed by hollows, his cheeks sunken into the bone beneath; but then, none of his physical appearance corresponded with his demeanor. He lifted his head, just barely, pale hair streaming down in a perfect, precise curl onto the gurney whose straps bound him. Then his voice crackled over the speakers. “My, my, what a surprise… It’s been four years too many,” he said, “Klavier.”

Simon Blackquill accompanies Klavier Gavin to his brother's execution.

    Summary

Shinji was always so stubborn. He rarely let Akihiko pay for his food when they grabbed a bite together, if ever. Even if he wasn’t staying in the dorms, and Akihiko knew he had to work jobs for the bits of money that he did have, he still…

“Ah.” Akihiko scrubs his eyes with the knuckles of one dusty hand. “What am I doing?”

At the moment, just sitting here on the dirty floor staring down at trash. When he lowers his hand from his face, it’s with the intention of pushing himself up, but his eyes drift back to the old assignments. He recognises another as an English quiz, also from their first year. This one, Shinji missed entirely, because he spent the entire period napping up on the roof. Akihiko had been so angry at him at the time—something about the promise they all made, back in the day—but Shinji had just lifted a brow and given him the smallest of smirks. He said something then—Akihiko doesn’t even remember what it was—but it was smug, something to the effect of Yeah, but you’d never let me flunk out, Aki.

The world doesn't end after Shinji leaves it.

    Summary

“Really,” Akihiko says, quieter. “What happened? You should have woken me.”

Shinji shoots him a classic dog-style side eye, complete with a raised eyebrow. “The hell would I have done that?”

“Because something is obviously going on,” and if Akihiko pouts at the implication that he wouldn’t have noticed that, well, sue him. “Come on. You wouldn’t let it slide if it was me, either. I’m not saying you have to talk about it, but you don’t have to lie to me.”

That at least seems to get somewhere, because Shinji doesn’t snap back right away. He opens and closes his mouth, then turns to face completely away from Akihiko, staring off into the skyline. He’s not looking at anything in particular, Akihiko doesn’t think. His expression is pensive and distant, brow set with those wrinkles he often gets around this time of year.

And really, it’s not that hard to piece together what’s going on with him.

    ---

Akihiko tends to feel like he's flying blind when he tries to provide emotional support to his boyfriend. Hard to say whether or not Shinji feels the same.

    Summary

It’s not that Akihiko is eager to get it over with. There’s just this little restless bug in him that just won’t leave him alone, one that needles and itches at him and which makes it impossible for him to deny the fact that he does, in fact, want it bad.

But Akihiko is a man of action. If Shinji’s going to dance around around the issue like this, then he’s just going to have to take matters into his own hands.

Plus, hopefully it’ll help convey to Shinji, where his words fail, that he actually wants this.

Shinjiro and Akihiko navigate their first time. Among other things.
