Summary
The next time Till saw his guardian, he was at the tipping point. The fresh searing agony through his veins bled through to the burn of his skin. His fleshy shell was unbearable to exist within. It was almost an insult that he still looked the same as ever, when he was being overwhelmed by such anguish. He felt like his reflection should show the skin sloughing from his bones and every blood vessel bursting with crimson spray. How he had held out this long was beyond him.
Perhaps his owner noticed his worsening condition beneath his resistant exterior. Perhaps they just took some sort of pity on him. When Urak grabbed his wrists, small and feeble within the segyein’s huge grasp, and held them above Till’s head, he understood that whatever autonomy he had was being removed. He could live with that. This way, at least, it wasn’t his choice to give in to the desire his body so desperately craved.

Summary
Lack of initiative. That was what Ivan realised Till was suffering from when they got to Ivan’s home and he simply stood until Ivan suggested he sit somewhere. If unprompted, Till would do nothing rather than anything. It was so unlike him that it was horrifying to witness. Suddenly, Till looked at Ivan sharply, brighter than he had been all night like he’d been struck with a moment of clarity. It faded as quickly as it came on, his hand reaching up to attempt to soothe an endless ache.
“They did something to me, Ivan.” He spoke like it was news to Ivan, as if he wasn’t a walking display of how deeply the segyein could change them.
Of course they did, Ivan wanted to say, they took your soul. “What do you mean?” were the words that left his mouth instead.
