Lexa hadn't been doing a very good job of hiding the fact that she's been blazing a trail through the girls in their senior class, and that definitely wasn't the kind of attention she should be drawing to herself.
Clarke was certain Lexa's parents had given her the same speech she'd gotten from her mom about "fitting in" and not drawing attention to their more wolfish qualities.
If they were going to attend a human high school, it was essential that they blend in.
And as Clarke well knew, as all werewolves knew, flaunting their wolfish sex appeal risked attracting the attention of the villagers with their pitchforks, and provoking the endless moralizing that humans used to justify their prejudices and mask their jealousy.
Every little misstep from Lexa felt like a personal slight. A risk that they would be outed to their classmates. And the last thing anyone needed was for the people in this town to discover that they were just miles away from two giant werewolf clans.

Summary
Toni scrambles to where Shelby landed.
“Shit! I swear I didn’t mean to...” Toni falters as she notices a bloody wound on Shelby’s temple.
“Go ahead and go on back." Shelby said pointedly. Her eyes now staring into Toni’s, cold and blank. "I will too but you should get a head start. I’d really rather walk alone.”
Meanwhile, Toni can’t take her eyes off Shelby’s wound. She turns and slowly walks away. Her hand coming up to rub her own temple as it throbs in pain. The pain that was exactly in the same spot as Shelby's wound.
