“You’re staring at him.”
“Staring at who?”
“Who else?” Ansu tilts his head at the line of Real Madrid players. “Pedri.”
“I was not staring at Pedri.” Because he wasn’t. Staring is completely different from assessing the competition.
Or the one where Gavi plays for Barcelona and Pedri plays for Real Madrid.

Instead of traveling for the holidays, Michael returns to Lake View for the winter after all. What follows is a confession and the aftermath.
Or, something of a companion to Chapter 14 of the book, a "how it should've gone if Joan Lindsay drank pure, unfiltered Make It Gay Juice."

Summary
Seeing him here, in New York, surrounded by the deep browns and golds of Hobart and Blackwell, is so alien to me I have to repress the urge to pinch myself like a child would after a dream. It looks incorrect, him standing here. Like someone has taken a pair of scissors to my memories of him, cut him out of his rightful place on the abandoned playground, and pasted him sloppily into a corner of my life where he doesn’t belong. Has it only been a few weeks? It feels like ages longer, like it’s been a decade, like we’re different people trying to see what exactly we liked about each other so much way back when.
But then he says it again- “Potter.”- and that feeling vanishes as quickly as it arrived.
“You came,” I say dumbly.
He gives a cheery smirk that I don’t believe. “Promised I would.”

Summary
Even in youth, some ancient part of your brain must have already known that the future was inevitable, that it would be here before you knew it. Hence the dreams. Hence their progression, every single time: You are trapped. You want to escape, to run, to be free. Someone is following you and you know you must evade them, that to be caught is tantamount to certain death, to the destruction of all you are. Running, always running, with no destination in sight. Just the deep-down knowledge that you must go, that you must go now.
Imprisonment. Escape. Capture. Over and over again.
After Amsterdam, Theo doesn't go back to New York.

“Why the fuck is it so busy?” Boris asks some hours later, twinkling lights a messy rainbow swirl around them, late December cold starting to eat a hole through Theo’s less-than-ideal camel’s-hair coat.
“It’s four days until Christmas, you idiot,” Theo says. “You should have had your weird holiday epiphany like a month ago.”

It's been a year since the zombie outbreak started, and Eddie and Richie are all that's left of the Loser's club. Eddie's not sure if he can handle it anymore, but Richie's convinced almost anything can be fixed with a little music, an abandoned mall, and a whole lot of terrible dance moves.

You don’t like to be helpless. Not at this stage in your life. You were helpless for so long in so many places - the desert, the city, the gallery, cold houses, lifeless rooms - it feels almost like overkill at this point.
A life story in bits and pieces.

Summary
I thought of walking along the canals in December, and how different this time had been than the last—the lights lining the bridge arches gleaming prettily on the night-black water, a warm scarf wrapped around my neck as Boris and I walked shoulder-to-shoulder. It seemed life was all around me, in the cheery jingles of bicycle bells and clanging church bells, the warm orange glow of houseboat lights.
they’re back in Amsterdam and theo is in love and boris, somehow, isn’t going anywhere.

Summary
You think you could chart the whole scarred expanse of him: dime-shaped black mark above his collar bone, birth mark. Neat circle at the crook of his left elbow, cigarette burn (his father’s). Neat circle at the top of his right calf, cigarette burn (his). Shiny-white gash inching its way from his stomach to the waistband of his underwear, appendix removal. (You’d had to call the ambulance.) There are new additions, but you’re so sure he would tell you everything about them if you asked that it already feels as though you know where he got those scars after all. He would offer you the story of his body like saying grace before supper.

Richie Tozier dreams, sometimes, of heat soaking through the soles of his sneakers from the July tarmac in the town where he grew up, the name of which he can’t quite remember when he’s awake, and of someone small and warm and familiar pressed up against him everywhere.

Summary
There’s a boy in his English class.
New, like him. (He knows this because no one talks to him, either.) He sits in front of Boris, one seat to the right, so it’s easy to make out his gloomy face. And Boris doesn’t know what it is about the boy that intrigues him so much- it could be the fact that when he does speak in class, rarely, the things he says are some of the only things Boris has ever heard in a classroom that make sense. It could be the fact that he looks like Harry Potter, with his shaggy hair and big round glasses. Or that he never, ever smiles.

Summary
Eddie could see the layers and layers of tape he’d wrapped around the leg of Richie’s glasses over a month ago, shaped like a little cocoon. He reached out and touched it with the tip of his finger.
“These don’t even sit straight anymore,” he said. “Why are you still wearing them?”
Richie didn’t blink from behind the lenses until Eddie took his hand back.
“I don’t know. My life is kind of a mess right now. They feel appropriate.”
“Your life isn’t a mess, Rich.”
“It really, really is.” Richie straightened, started talking with his hands when he said, “Hey, shouldn’t you be shouting? I feel like this would be easier if you were shouting.”
“You said you’d take this seriously,” Eddie said.

Summary
“Aw, shucks, you’d really do all that for little ol’ me?” Richie fawns in his best-worst Southern Belle voice.
Eddie is offscreen washing his hands in the kitchen sink when he says “Yeah, dumbass, I have disposable income, and the office can cope without me for like two and a half days.”
“You’re serious?” Richie asks quietly, a little overcome.
“Yeah, man,” Eddie says, stepping back into frame. “Only if you want me to, though, I mean—” His eyebrows come in for a worried landing over his eyes, as they often do, and Richie loves them when they do that but he does not want to miss out on the opportunity to have Eddie in his house instead of on his grainy cell phone screen.
“No, I want you to!” Richie says frantically. “I insist, Eduardo. Come to California.”
Eddie’s smile pops up, just briefly, a flash of white pixels as he looks down at his hands. “Okay,” he says.
