"Mhmm?" Satomi was just like her, Masami thought, the same little hum when called upon, the same eyes.
"I'm worried about Satomi."
At this she looks back with a raised eyebrow. "Why? Did something happen?"
"I… don't know. I just. I just hope he is happy. Tokyo can be big and lonely. University can be tough." It wasn't what he had meant to say at all but he didn't know how to broach the subject. Hey, Ma, I think someone broke his heart and Satomi clings to their watch. He still wears their shirts and keeps an ashtray. He used to meet that person but not anymore. Has he told you anything? God, I hope he has. If not me, then at least you.
Yeah, no, he didn't have enough energy or courage for that.

“It’s so unfair,” Kyouji says around another drag of smoke. “Cats hate me.”
Satomi tilts his head slightly and it’s all Kyouji can do to not keel over from the sheer wave of cuteness aggression that hits him.
“Really?”
“Yeah! None of them ever come near me. The ones that do, run away soon enough, hissing at me like I cursed their bloodline or something.”
It’s silent for a moment before Satomi says, “It could be your scent.”
“Come again?”
Satomi looks back at him before getting up with the cat in his arms. “Cats don’t like strong smells, they have much more sensitive noses than ours. You always wear cologne and smell like cigarettes.”
“My, Satomi-kun, you have been paying attention,” Kyouji chuckles, barely able to wrap his head around what he was hearing.

The derisive snort is lost to the rustle of sheets but Bruce hears it nonetheless. "I would have never called."
"Good that I called again then, right?"
Jason goes quiet. The pause ticks on like a broken clock repeating the same second over and over.
"You're incorrigible."
"I like to call it determination."
