It was official. Shane had lost his mind for real. Maybe they’d never made it to the cottage. Maybe they’d gotten into a fatal accident on the road and his synapses were firing random images in his last moments because he literally could not think of a more logical explanation for there being two Ilyas in his fucking kitchen right now, what the fuck?
He looked at the Ilya holding him. Then the one on the stairs. It was the same gorgeous face, the same stunned expression, the same body.
Different clothes.
They were wearing different clothes. Ilya had been wearing shorts this morning, Shane remembered gripping his bare thigh in the car, and watching him walk up the stairs in them.
Shane felt sick to his stomach. He pushed the stranger who was touching him away and took a couple steps back, needing space to process this.
The stranger’s face fell. “Sweetheart,” he pleaded.
“Yeah?” came another voice from behind Shane. Shane turned around slowly to see… himself. Walking in through the back doors.
OR
Shane and Ilya go to the cottage and find it already occupied. By versions of themselves from some other reality (spooky!). Then they have sex with them.
