“That’s my Appa. I’m Avery,” Avery says, which makes Andrew smile and kiss Avery’s damp cheek, and makes Neil squeal internally.
“Appa,” Avery stage-whispers. “You have a question for Nurse Neil.”
“I do?” Andrew stage-whispers back, and Neil’s just filled with joy at their interactions.
“‘Bout the band-aids,” Avery adds very seriously.
“Ah,” Andrew says and clears his throat. “Who’s your supplier?”
Neil chokes on his sip of water. “My what?”
“Where do you get your band-aids from? I need to stock up for this little tornado and he’s decided he only wants sparkly pink glitter ones.”
“And rainbows,” Avery helpfully adds, showing off his knuckles to his dad.
