This back and forth exchange continues until inspiration tickles the back of your mind. An idea prompts a cunning smile to spread on your lips and Xiao’s eyes catch the light of it.
Before you know it, the world tips back and the breath rushes from your lungs as you hit the dirt, a weight pinning you down. Your weapon lays useless just within arm’s reach. It would be futile to make a grab for it, what with the hand pinning down your crossed wrists together.
(That was okay, you wouldn’t need it anyway.)
