When morning comes in the valley, it leaves much to be desired.
Azubuike shifts in his hammock, eyes slowly opening to take in the sunlight peeking through the marui. He rolls onto his back, yawning loud enough to wake the dead–something he does not want to do today, or any day, thank you very much.
Across the room, Desta groans incomprehensibly, shifting in his sleep, and Azubuike is so tempted to wake him up. His brother is annoying most days, and Azubuike wants to do it so badly…
Desta snores in his sleep, an arm draped over his eyes, and Azubuike decides against it.
He has a lot more important things to do today.

Something is wrong.
The forest is silent today. There’s no chatter of yerik in the distance, no faint hum of Eywa’s vibrance that seems to hum within everything that exists.
Tsyere’mi hops from branch to branch, feet lighter than air, bow in hand. He thanks his father for the opportunity–the first time he gets to go hunting truly alone. The moss and wood is cool under his feet as he moves across a branch, and he feels so damn alive.
This is what he is made for.
The adrenaline that comes with hunting is a rush like no other. It makes his heart beat against his ribs like a mallet, and he’s way too damn excited to bring home something for his family.
Sixteen years’ worth of existence on Pandora has given him purpose, and he enjoys it.
