Summary
Danny hated Vlad with a passion but he also held some sort of respect from him. Their relationship was impossibly complicated, bordering between being mortal enemies and best of allies. There have been times where Vlad was the only person in the entire world that he could relate to, both being half-dead science experiments gone wrong and all that. There have also been times where Danny wanted nothing more than to pummel Vlad’s face in and curse him to high hell.
So when Vlad came to him for a favor, Danny squinted his eyes with high distrust. He had to be civil, since he was Fenton at the moment and his parents were around, but he sure as hell wouldn’t be dropping his guard anytime soon. “Let me get this straight, you want me to join you in your rich people party as your honorary son and plus one?” Danny deadpanned.
“Yes, that’s about it.”

Summary
Danny didn't want to be anywhere near London.
It would have been bad enough if he had been in London for an ordinary reason. If he was there because his parents wanted to see if the Tower of London was really haunted, for an honest-to-goodness vacation, or something like that. Amity Park was Danny's haunt and being away from it for an extended period of time made him anxious in the extreme, even when he knew that it was safe.
What he really wanted to be doing right now was sitting down to eat dinner in FentonWorks with his family, or at least with his parents and his sister, Jazz. Unfortunately, this was impossible. To begin with, FentonWorks had been burnt down. Secondly-
He shook his head, hard. Thinking about it wouldn't do anything but depress him. At least he knew where Jazz was.

Those dreams were filled with people and places he knew, reflected the fears and insecurities his conscious mind suppressed; but these dreams, they dropped him in the middle of a landscape more alien than that of any planet he’d ever seen, and he’d visited more than his fair share of strange worlds.

Things had been going pretty great for Danny this week, believe it or not.It had been uncharacteristically quiet ghost-wise. Just the occasional minor spirit floating around here and there, little more than a loose collection of ectoplasm and the desire to cause mischief; a quick flash of his thermos was all it took to capture those and send them packing. There had been no take over the world plans to thwart, no bone-crunching, property-damaging, reputation-ruining fights to fight, no sudden appearances of freaky new abilities to master, and only one of his parents’ new inventions had tried to fry him.

When Danny went through the ghost catcher, he expected to be cured of the ghostliness that had haunted him since the accident, not to wake up on the lab floor with his parents saying he’d been overshadowed but everything’s okay now. So why does Danny Fenton cry himself to sleep to then dream of flying? Why does Phantom, the ghost who was supposedly possessing Danny, remember a life that isn’t his? Most of all, why do both the human and the ghost feel that something vital is missing, in their very soul?
Or: Trying to cure himself of his powers one month after the accident, Danny accidently splits himself but neither his ghost nor his human half realize what they've actually done.
