Their rot matches each other and so, they start a game. A chess game where everyone and everything is at their disposal on their path for victory.
Kurosaki Ichigo should have just been another pawn. Something to be used and thrown away when his use is up, but Kisuke becomes obsessed. Ichigo isn't a pawn, but his perfect Queen and when this game between himself and Sosuke is done, Ichigo will be all his. He will make sure of it.

He quickly figures out that he's in an outer district of Soul Society, and that he's hundreds of years in the past. Getting back any way but the long one seems pretty much impossible, so he settles in for what will be a long and arduous journey. He's already dreading what he'll have to do to prevent as much of the bullshit coming up as he can, and with the way that he's missing his swords and looks like a child again, there's much to do before he's able to change anything.

“Don’t …” Ichigo manages to slur the word out, as close to begging as he’s come since that rainy day by the river bank.
But begging his mom to wake up hadn’t worked then.
And asking Suì-fēng not to do this to him doesn’t work now.
Suì-fēng’s hands come closer.
The ribbon glows and seems to split, black and gold tendrils lashing out to wrap around Ichigo’s throat.
For a long, painful moment Ichigo can’t breathe.
Then the seal, stronger and somehow more vicious than anything Ichigo has ever felt before, snaps into place.
Ichigo screams, a high pitched and warbling sound, as agony arcs through his entire being.
Then black surges forwards around the edges and drags him all the way back down.

Something cold settles in his belly- a visceral fear he hasn't felt in forever.
Because something about this, the way Ichigo traces his figure with desperate eyes, it reeks of a final goodbye. Something about this moment is tragic and horrific and Kisuke's instincts have never failed him before.
"Ichigo what are you-"
Ichigo moves before he can finish the sentence, pulling him into a searing kiss, it tastes overwhelmingly of salt. The aftertaste left behind from the tears hanging between them, unaddressed. It tastes of love, the weight of Ichigo's adoration leaving him breathless in its intensity. Kisuke clutches onto him, desolate.
With a desperate sob, Ichigo pulls back, "You said I've never done anything that has required an apology from you, I'm sorry Kisuke, this might just be the point where you draw the line."
Before he can reply, before he can even blink- Kisuke is unmade.
