Summary
Caleb and Fjord, wizard and pirate, find each other on the ocean and all is changed. As they build a partnership of trust and intimacy, they recognize in each other not only loyalty, but ambition. As Fjord contends with his patron Uk'atoa and Caleb struggles against Ikithon's efforts to recapture him, eventually what they come to understand is this - their only safety is in each other, and in power, and the two are not so very different after all.
