Summary
With graduation only a few months away, and college heavy on his mind, Ponyboy Curtis takes one night off to go to a party at a friend's house. After a few drinks, he heads home, but on the way he manages to accidentally stumbles upon a murder instead. He escapes unharmed, but for weeks following, he'll be haunted not only by a killer who wants his blood, but the guilt of keeping secrets from his brothers and his friends.
(On an indefinite hiatus: I scrapped the original ending and then kinda lost motivation. I have many other story ideas that I have/am fleshing out and will likely write them before returning to this. I apologize, but I will almost certainly come back to thiseventually!)

Summary
Ponyboy was staring at the wall for god knows how long. This has become a habit as of late, and he doesn’t know how to cut it out.
“Quit doin’ that,” Soda had said yesterday night, when he came home from a late shift and Ponyboy was simply staring into a void, eyes wide and red with tear tracks across his cheeks. “It freaks me out, Pony. It ain’t you.”
And he was right. It wasn’t him. Pony didn’t stare numbly at things. He looked. He observed. He thought.
He didn’t really think anymore. Not about anything important, at least. Only Johnny and Dally.
Or: Ponyboy’s grieving and Soda’s worried.

Ponyboy Curtis gets himself into some trouble after foolishly trusting the word of Curly Shepard. His brothers are left to care for him when he returns home, bruised and concussed.

Summary
The kid wasn’t in bed. Soda was in the only bathroom in the house. The kid went to bed early last night. The window in the bedroom was open.
Oh crap.
“Uh,” Dallas responded elegantly, before swallowing. “Kid’s not in the room.”
“What?”
Darry’s expression turned stony, then turned deadly, and then Darrel was running over to the kid’s room and he about busted the door down. When he saw the open window and the made bed (as if that would make sneaking out any better, Ponyboy!) he about lost his mind.
He sprinted back into the living room, angry and panicked.
“Ponyboy’s gone!”
Or; When Ponyboy ventures into the east side to watch a movie, a group of socs decide to have a little fun. Dallas finds him, tears ensue.

"I guess you leave me no choice."
Darry grabbed his ankles and yanked, and that sure woke him up. With a yelp, Pony scrambled for his bed frame and latched onto it like a lifeline. "Jeez, Darry, quit it! You're bein' nuts!"
Darry kept pulling him, looking damn near close to wrestling him off of the mattress. "Hey, I asked nicely! Ain't my fault you won't listen!"
"You haven't asked nice for nothin' a day in your life! Cut it out!"
"Yeah, cause you're challengin' my authority!" With one final pull, Darry yanked him right off the bed like he weighed as much as a feather. Pony scrambled, feeling oddly similar to a small animal as Darry shook him by his ankles and held him upside down. "You keep this up and I'm groundin' you on the spot."
"You can't do that!"
"Who says I can't? I'm in charge and whatever I say goes. You wanna start gettin' ready for school, or do you wanna be grounded for a month?"
Or: Pony refuses to get up for school. Darry makes him. Tears and comfort ensue shortly after.
