    Summary

(inspired by the many tiktok comments under heartbreaking mlm ship edits going "do they know it's legal now?" I'm here to propose that no, Bucky does not know it's legal now. nobody really talks about the legalization of gay marriage anymore when you really think of it. it doesn't change too much but it's kind of funny that he just...doesn't know).

A short-ish getting together fic where Sam convinces Bucky to go on a mini roadtrip through Texas, through which he finally finds out that gay marriage is legal.

    Summary

Sam Wilson is busier than ever – balancing missions, public duties, and the weight of the shield. Bucky Barnes, newly elected as a congressman for New York, is trying to make amends in a different way: with policies instead of punches, speeches instead of fights. When a few late nights and long commutes lead to Bucky crashing at Sam’s D.C. apartment, it’s supposed to be temporary. Practical. Friendly.

Then one spare key turns into extra shirts in the closet. An extra toothbrush appears on the sink. A joint grocery list. They start cooking dinner together, running in the mornings, and accidentally building a life together. Lines start to blur, and routines turn into something else.

A story about two idiots in love, learning that home isn’t a place you find. It’s what you build together.

    Summary

“I’m not so desperate that I’m sinking to that level yet.”

“What? Resorting to exploiting your position or to downloading a dating app?” Sharon laughs at the exasperated look on his face.

    “Either.”

“Well, they do say dating is hard as a celebrity, and that’s certainly what you are now, Cap.”

“Yeah? You got any suggestions for this celebrity?”

She thinks on it for a moment, drinks some of her wine. She’s probably got a few people who could be an option for Sam, actually. “I think you’ve come to the right person,” she tells him, sly smile on her face. “It was previously my job to get people the things they wanted, and I was the best in the business.”

Five times others try to set Sam up on a date (and realize something about his relationship status that he hasn't) plus one time Sam takes matters into his own hands (well, with a little help from Bucky).

    Summary

“It’s a very long story,” he said.

Well, that wasn’t exactly true. The basic truth itself could be summed up real easy: that guy right there is me from the future and that’s his pal Sam, also from the future. All the details and the questions afterwards - only half of which got actual answers - that’s what really took so long.

When a version of himself from the future is brought back to the past right in front of him suddenly HYDRA isn't the most interesting thing in this war. But the more time Bucky spends with himself and the new companion who came with him, the more questions he finds himself with. How much time has really passed? How much can one man be changed from himself? Who is this Sam - and what will he grow to mean to Bucky?
