Being possessed and then stabbed by his own teammate and brother had been a bad enough experience for Lloyd, but Morro unfortunately has more misery in store for him; incensed at being defeated and left with nothing but his hatred for the boy who took the destiny he believes should have been his, Morro's goal is nothing less than causing as much pain to Lloyd, both physically and emotionally, as possible... by forcing the person who promised to protect him to be the one to hurt him.
Tl;dr: Morro kidnaps Lloyd and tortures him in various ways while possessing Kai, who can't do anything but watch, and the other ninja try to find out where they are.

Summary
Cannot believe there isn't a fic about the "Wyldfyre is Kai and Skylor's daughter from the future" theory, at least none that I found, so I'm doing it myself before the show addresses Wyldfyre's real parents!
Wyldfyre had never been interested in finding out about the people who'd given birth to her before - after all they'd abandoned her when she was just a baby - until a visit to Ninjago in an effort to find Arin's parents reveals who her own parents are.
But how could Kai be her father? They got along well but now their entire relationship has changed and she doesn't know how to feel about it.
As for Kai, he has no idea about how to deal with this earth-shattering revelation any more than she does. All he can think of to do is to finally go looking for his old flame, Skylor, the supposed mother of his daughter, and hope that she has an explanation... as well as reconnect with Wyldfyre and assure her that no matter what the truth turns out to be, she would always be important to him. Summary
The ninja all grieved Zane after his sacrifice.
Kai’s methods weren’t healthy. Fighting away night after night in the pit. Because it should have been him. The thought stayed with him. Consumed him.
He’d wanted it to stop. And it did. His grief left him. But so did everything else.
When the ninja do finally begin to reach out to one another, Kai is gone. And when they seek to find Zane, their brother they thought dead on the island, they find yet another brother they hadn’t known was so far gone.
TLDR: Kai has amnesia during the tournament of elements and ends up working for Chen :)

After Lloyd's death by grabbing the Weapon of Desolation, Kai struggles with even getting out of bed. Resorting to locking himself away inside his little brother's room and shutting everyone out, feeling like he failed him and is actively failing the team with no strength left to stop it.
The door opens and a very disgruntled Lloyd comes inside to an stunned Kai who thought all hope was lost.

This fandom is a prison and even when I was actively trying to escape it, someone told me Lloyd called for Kai before dying and I had to put that pain somewhere.
