He wasn’t the most intimidating figure-wise, sure. His size was meager, He was a bit shorter than most of the village, and His build was terribly average. He wore a large black cloak that drowned His frame so only if you squinted, maybe you could catch a couple stray locks of bone-white dipping out from under the hood, or hints of teasing green fabric from underneath the concealing cloth.
But of course, with monikers such as ‘Thanatos’ or ‘Charon’, there was very much something to fear about Him.
The pair moved back.

His hand lands on the worn, leather-wrapped hilt of a hunting knife.
He watches. The world slows. Ranboo holds the knife out in front of him. The blade spins.
Charlie’s vision dissolves into nothing but red.

Summary
Tommy was gone.
Phil stumbled outside. His silhouette cast a dark shadow through the yard, like a chasm. A dark crack that spread through the earth. The world felt far away, as Phil stared at that stick. The only thing he could hear was ringing in his ears and his heartbeat, coming together like a twisted melody.
The song rose in crescendo, distorted animal calls joining the chorus as Phil looked up and saw those same strange footprints just a couple feet from the branch.
Leading into the woods.

“You can’t make me go,” Mikey blurts, too loud. “I won’t. I don’t want to.”
“Jesus,” Donnie mutters, rubbing his forehead. He’s already so fed-up with Mikey after like three seconds of conversation that Mikey can feel his eyes start to sting. “The last thing I want to do is fight with you, Mike. I thought you liked Cowabunga Carl.”
It’s not fair. Donnie’s so smart. He’s tired and overworked and unhappy, but he’s smart. How can he get this one thing so wrong? How can he not know Mikey as well as he used to, like all of those years of being each other’s best friends and co-conspirators and secret-keepers from where they were relegated to the “B Team” aren’t as intrinsic and important and fundamental to him as they are to Mikey? How can he look at Mikey, right in the face, and not understand him at all?
Something breaks.
