Summary
Alastor still didn't know precisely what had given him away - the pathetic, mewling whimper he hadn't been able to bite back, the few tears that the alcohol had loosened, the incriminating way he had leaned into Lucifer's touch, just for a moment, before he'd caught himself and jerked back.
Something, any one of those things, all of them. It had given him away, and Lucifer had looked at him with eyes too wide and shocked and only needed to say "ohshit" for Alastor to know he'd understood.

Alastor is a little. He's fine he's fine he's fine. But Lucifer offers to halve the load and Alastor wants to say no he needs to say no but he has to fix this weakness, or he'll be left trembling and incapable in another battle, just as he was when Adam faced him - resisting headspace leaving him too unstable to put up an adequate fight.
He's weighed the odds. He needs to accept the offer. It's the intelligent, logical way forward. He'll drop before the King of Hell - he must simply control the descent.

She thinks, in the third century or so, that maybe it was intentional. Gallifrey was burning in the back of her mind, and maybe she just wanted space?
It puts the tardis’ reluctance into perspective, anyhow.
She lands her though, throws open the doors, and grins as best she can.
And when Ryan goes to press the big red button (and she did honestly think he had learned by then that big red buttons weren’t to be pushed, but then again, she still hadn’t learned), she doesn’t yell, doesn’t warn. She just pushes him back, a second too late, and takes the blast herself.
