Summary
Zoot's photographs are quite literally his memories. So whenever he sells a photo at the art gallery, he loses that memory forever. And his photographs of Lips turn out to be his biggest sellers. By the time the band reunites, all his memories of Lips are gone, and Zoot has no idea who Lips is or how in love they used to be.
It's up to Lips to get those memories back.

Summary
Zoot has always expressed himself through his sax rather than words, so when an incomprehensible trumpeter joins the band, the only way they can communicate with each other is through their music. But this leads to them forming a deeper connection than either of them would've thought.

“Good evening!” Melody replied cheerfully. “I received a very interesting call today, and I wanted to get your opinion on it.”
“Oh?” Kurapika asked. He reached for his wine and sipped. “Is this a work call, or a bitch session?” He would not put the wine down for anything short of a house fire, though, and he sipped his drink again as if to prove his point to some sort of invisible audience.
