Abed wanted to film missing lover footage by the light of the sunrise, he said. Troy didn’t know what missing lover footage was, and it was way too early to learn new concepts, but apparently it was something he’d done with Annie while Troy was gone. So they’d driven to Santa Monica, and now they were here, the scent of saltwater enveloping them.

' He traced the scars on his chest. They had faded by now, blending into his chest a little more. There were some newer scars across his body, from the pirates. More jagged, more red, and certainly more traumatic. He ran his index finger down one of them and swallowed, involuntarily recalling the gash.
He noticed Abed in front of him, filming him. Troy cracked a half-smile. “What?”
“You’re the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen,” Abed said simply. '

“I’ve actually toyed with this idea myself. I thought it would be interesting to make a documentary of the daily office activities. The topic seems boring at first glance but then, through the lens of a camera, the employees here will slowly charm everyone, illustrating the beauty of mundane life through human connection. That’s basically what this is right?” Abed Nadir says, staring into the camera without blinking.
(Or, the lives of the employees at Greendale Office Supplies, candidly portrayed.)

'They share a soft sweet kiss, which is captured by the cameras thanks to the crew hiding behind a plant. It lasts only a short moment, but they both seem completely lost in it, and when they pull back, there's a rosey blush coloring their faces. Troy smiles, brushes Abed's hair to the side and steps back.
"I can't wait for the rest," he says sweetly, before gathering his stuff.
Abed nods slowly, in a daze.
"Goodnight Abed," Troy says, tapping the desk as he exits.
"Goodnight Troy," Abed smiles, watching him all the way until he's gone. '

Summary
It was worthless to run simulations, Abed knew that. That didn’t stop his mind from playing the scenarios on autopilot. The chances that Troy would want to stay friends after finding out were slim, considering his friend group. No, this wasn’t something anyone could ever know about.
Abed was used to liking people more than they liked him. It was just a reality of being who he was. This was just another relationship he was bound to screw up, a person who would inevitably leave when faced with the reality of Abed’s character.
