“But you’re cleaning the litterbox.” Light was going to be the one cleaning the litterbox, but it was worth a shot.
“Litterbox?” Misa replied. Light scowled. She didn’t even know the first thing about cats.
“Does it even have a name?”
“Oh, of course he does, don’t you?” She said half to Light and half to the cat. She held it up under its arms to face Light. The cat had wide, saucer-like eyes that seemed deeply unimpressed with this display. “Light, meet Hideki Ryuga!”

Misa brings home a cat one night. Light might be losing his mind.

Summary
His hair plastered unpleasantly to his forehead and the back of his neck; he hadn’t cut it yet since before his imprisonment. It felt as though something was there now, held in the strands. A memory of a lack of memory, so to speak. He held onto it and dragged it around like a ratty baby blanket. That didn’t stop Misa from tugging on the extra length with her fingers every so often, her comments toeing the line between complementary and derisive.
Light is looking pretty, she’d coo.
She’d huff: It's going to get longer than mine!
Sometimes she’d brandish her hair-cutting shears at him half-jokingly. The last time, they’d both blanched at the genuine discomfort that had flashed across Light’s face. She hadn’t said anything since, for which Light almost found it in himself to be grateful.
...
Having a body is a difficult experience for a god, after all. That aside, Light is having a normal one.

“I don’t like that tone, Ryuk. I’m perfectly capable of--why are we even having this conversation?”
“You’re watching her sleep,” Ryuk pointed out.
“L watched me sleep. You watch me sleep.”
“Exactly.”
Abruptly, before Light could figure out whatever the hell that meant, Misa flopped over onto her back and whimpered out, “Just do it. You can do it.”
Light looked back only to find that Ryuk had phased back through the wall and disappeared. Just typical. Misa was writhing in the sheets like she expected to escape some invisible hold, crying unintelligibly and still very much asleep.
“I’ve done enough, you can kill me!” she cried.
...
Light catches Misa in the midst of a nightmare. He doesn't want to stay, but he can't exactly leave.

Summary
“I’m not having some—“ he has to pause to catch his breath. It is easier now, but he won’t tell L that. “—kind of attack, Ryuzaki. You don’t have to give me advice.”
“Whatever helps Light sleep at night,” L mutters to no one.
“Literally,” he adds with a wild smirk. Light hates him. Light’s not even Kira and he’s going to kill him.
“Has anyone ever told you you’re not funny?”
“Light has, on multiple occasions, I believe,” L says, tapping at his chin in fake thought. He’s still talking in third person in a way that reminds Light of Misa, absurdly. Evidently, Light is surrounded by lunatics. “Light also wants to kill me, though, so his opinion can be disregarded.”
…
Light struggles to share a room with L, for reasons that are wholly L’s fault because nothing has ever been wrong with Light ever. In an uncharacteristically empathetic moment, L offers him a truce.

Summary
“I know you’re going to tell me to go away now,” she said delicately, and this was uncharted territory for both of them. Misa so rarely said things delicately, but this was still her, always taking his hatred as fact, and simultaneously demanding love in her petulant way. I don’t care if all you do is use me. “But I won’t. And you won’t make me.”

Light’s façade is fracturing after killing L. In a moment of weakness, he lets a memory-less Misa force her way into calming him down.
