There is something in your heart that is not you.
You do not know where it came from – you do not remember. You are not sure you care to. There is a part of your mind - the one devoted to ruthless practicality, to the bearings of a soldier, to precision and uniforms worn just so and reports written just so and orders obeyed just so - that protests and whines and screams and rages at its inability to find the beginning.
The rest of you does not care overly much. It is content to drift, aimless, in the muck. But that meticulous part of you demands order, a resolution. It says that it is the only way you will remember who you are, and that without it - without that beginning - you will never find an ending either.

Clervie was buried in a shallow grave. Loose dirt, rough edges, uneven bottom, and clods of mud, grass, root, and bits of stone all carelessly tossed on top of her like trash. The shallowness made it easy to rise from. The looseness made it simpler to reach through and push aside. But not brush off. Clervie's never managed to brush it off.
It bothers her. To this day it bothers her.

The destination he has in mind is unclear — unnamed, yet, more accurately. Jason doesn’t know where he’s going, or what he’s going to do when he gets there. A few hours’ drive just didn’t seem far enough to be away from the expanse of Gotham, not when Bristol itself rolled out several miles around the city proper, so he cranked it up a few hours. Chicago seemed like a far enough place away, until he got onto I-80 and a terror seized him as he remembered Dick had spent a brief stint as an officer in Chicago. So he kept driving west.
