Summary
Peter doesn’t believe in God.
But you do. More or less.
So he’ll memorize prayers for you. Wash his hands the way you were taught to wash sin. Sit in the front row, and smile with every lie.Because if it gets him closer to you, he'll happily twist himself into whatever ridiculous image of piety you need to let him in.
You wear your obedience like armor. But he can see the cracks. The sharpness in your eyes when their preaching turns cruel. The way you say 'amen' with a frown.
He'll wait. Not for love. Love is easy. He's waiting for the moment you choose him over them. Choose him over God.
They think they’ve caged you.
They don’t know he's already started picking the lock.(This may be a hyper specific self insert, and entirely unrelatable, but what the hell, lets publish it anyway)

Summary
My first time writing in the second person! I usually dislike doing so, but decided to leave my comfort zone a little bit because this definitely demands second person. Fem reader, but I am happy to upload another version with changed terminology if requested.
You've always hated the idea of being a burden on anyone else. It caused you to go so far in the other direction that you were paying more than your own share of the rent, just to ease any inappropriate guilt. It was the reason you were working yourself to death at a shitty minimum-wage job. Then along comes a man who is eager to do absolutely everything for you. Be your breadwinner. Cook for you. Watch you while you sleep. And he gets that chance one day when he finds you alone in your apartment--hurt, unconscious, leaving him with no other option than to take you to his home and nurse you back to health. You detest the idea of anyone waiting on you hand-and-foot, but he's about to force you to deal with your insecurities. He's determined to prove to you that you do, in fact, deserve such kind treatment.
