phew! this was intense, your writing gave this story more depth with the subtle metaphors and characterisations. i really hoped for taehyung's escape but you were absolutely right with the ending. there is no way taehyung could have escaped from someone as dark and morally torturous as jeongguk. i knew how dark it would get, but still felt helpless while watching taehyung struggle with his sense of reality. at some points, i started being him. being scared of your own memories to the extent of not realising what and what not to believe, it made the suffering more agonising. the deaths were inevitable, jeongguk made sure they were but i think jimin's death scared me the most. taehyung was so close to his freedom, to see that snatched and torn right off from him is excruciating. such a lively, young human turned into a lifeless marionette doll..... it sure hurts hard. the final moments where jeongguk lived with taehyung's corpse were haunting; it truly gave me the chills.

this is what power imbalance and everything dubious should feel like!! the plot, the traps, and the motives are so polished.. it had me pausing for some good minutes to process the entire deal. i absolutely love how taehyung is not always docile and actually reacts to the advances. he is his own person and that confuses jeongguk. good lord, jeongguk is such a bastard but it suits the ambience of the entire fic so well. his relationship with sohee while he indulges with taehyung though wrong feels so right because of the high-class society they are all part of and also because of how well the tension is written. honestly, would want taehyung to make jeongguk BEG later on because he always gets everything too easy. special mention to when jeongguk calls taehyung 'tae' or when jeongguk just says the right things to make it all hot, he is the GAME !! he makes me weak in the knees and blurry in the head. this is mad good, absolutely going feral for the upcoming chapters.

this is a magnificent piece of lit you have built. a story that felt like a complete circle with absolutely every scene and character having its due closure and purpose. there were times i doubted how, in a society like theirs, things could get better. but with yoongi as the ruler, it made perfect sense. not that jeongguk would be any lesser, but yoongi was a more sensible choice. jeongguk's dilemma with his internal struggle of the changes he would potentially see in himself if he were to become the sovereign was an open testimony to how much he wanted to change and loved taehyung. the love, omg their love??? how deep, how well-crafted! the way jeongguk tries so hard and is deeply remorseful of his past actions, the active participation and efforts to be a better person for taehyung... that was PEAK CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. special mention to the time you took to make this as realistic as possible with clauses of the crimson code!! because it was beautifully thought out, considering all the nuances of the period. i loved how the amended code considers secondary relevant measures as well, ones that were not fully explored in the story. 1000/100 recommend!!

honestly, this one reminds me of hustlers by tbz (which is one of my many favourites, classic material). the premise of gambling, money, betrayal, clubs.. i would have never expected someone to build a world with the same undertones and feels ever again, but guess we should always run a bad bet than none?
embarrassing theories i made up to cross-check into once this is completed
i am someone who reads with absolutely no theory building up my head, but since i'll have to wait for the next update, here's me racking my brain as to what could happen. jeongguk would be neck deep into this shit, v probably has his potential list of people who are gullible to fall for him. he sets them up under the orders of simon. v plays along until he forgets where lines blur. i think jeongguk will only lose more money henceforth, after the weekend with v he could potentially get borderline obsessed with v. the friday visits could change to being more frequent? and yoongi... there is something he knows that he does not tell it out much, but nothing too harmful, hopefully? but i don't have the feeling that he is all good. i wonder how yoongi found out about this place, his relationship with halo as he says it's not like how it is with jeongguk and v...

this is everything true and beautiful. this is how i want love to feel, i want to feel wanted and cared for just like how jeongguk gives it all. despite his confusion and lack of awareness about sexuality, he was such a sweetie to learn it all and apologise with pure intent. i loved how they matched each other like puzzle pieces, like they were meant to be. i love how this focused on the codependency bit of a zombie apocalypse with mild action and gore rather than pure violence and loss. the perfect and delicious combination of everything i love in one place.
