Summary
It is a foolish thing, but Zhongli seems to hand out scraps of comfort like it is nothing throughout the visit; a pat to the head, placing a warm hand on Xiao's back to nudge him in the right direction, words said in a soft tone meant to comfort whenever Xiao flinched at a loud noise.
Zhongli seems far kinder than Father ever was, and Xiao does not know if any other person who would take him -useless, stupid, good for nothing him- would be as kind as Zhongli. If Xiao plays nice; if he is obedient and good, will Zhongli keep being kind?
Xiao knows better than to hope, but they do anyway.Zhongli rescues a child named Xiao from a domestic abuse case. For better or worse, said child gets incredibly attached to him.
(Probably for the worse, given Zhongli is terrible at human communication.)
Or, the struggles of Zhongli trying to juggle the single dad life, much to the amusement of his friends.

Desperate to get strong enough to do what he loves, the young exorcist hatches a plan to find Conqueror of Demons, Adeptus Xiao, and ask him to train him. With much effort this goal is achieved, but things don't exactly go as planed. It'll all be worth it in the end for Chongyun to become stronger, or at least that's what he hopes.
