honestly, a crack fic started from the 'andrew in drag' trend on tiktok, where Clark mistakes Lex for a girl, and me taking inspiration of them being childhood friends and maybe something more and turning it into a serious fic.

Summary
When a(nother) Superman double starts wreaking havoc while playing heroes, very few are able to differentiate him from the original. Those in power are fooled: Belle Reve offers Anti-Superman expert Lex Luthor a conditional freedom in exchange for his help. Despite LuthorCorp's desperate need for some PR miracle, he's frustratingly picky with interviews—until he requests a specific reporter: The Daily Planet's Clark Kent.
Lex Luthor is doing it for the PR, he says; only came to him because of his badge of Superman's Favorite Reporter, he says. Nothing to do with their past.
Clark Kent tells Lois he's only agreeing so he can keep an eye on Luthor; totally not because, due to some weird i-spent-too-much-time-going-through-dimensional-rifts effect, Lex Luthor now looks too much like his childhood best friend for Clark to stay away.
Of course, they're probably lying.

"His new ‘I don’t care about Superman’ thing is just weird. I mean, it’s,” Clark gestures wildly to the newspaper, the ugly headline still staring up at them, “Lex Luthor. He’s an obsessive. If he’s not fixated on me, he’s got to be fixated on something else. Something not good. Something—why are you looking at me like that?”
Kara shrugs. “Sounds like your pet psychopath has moved on, and you’re just jealous.”
“Kara,” Clark sighs, but doesn’t protest further.
Superman knows that whatever Lex’s new obsession is, it can’t be good. As he soon discovers, that new obsession is Clark Kent.
