Summary
The low light catches on the heavy golden hoops threaded through each of Ratio's stiff, dusky nipples. The chain that links them shimmers with each labored breath the doctor takes.
It’s no secret that Aventurine likes his men adorned— specifically, in things he’s bought just for them— and Ratio’s secret penchant for naughty piercings has only given him that much more room to stake his claim.
“Not getting bored, are you?” It’s a well-worn tease. Ratio complains about the lack of stimulation, Aventurine gives him something to really cry about.
They're not together, not really. But that doesn't stop Aventurine from leading a leashed and blindfolded Ratio out to his opulent penthouse balcony in the middle of the night and imagining there's eyes on them in the dark.

“Aventurine,” Ratio says, gravely, “The piercing is on my penis.”
And purely because he wouldn’t have risen to the heights of luxury without being utterly shameless, he has the gall to request, “...Show me anyway?”
It is, indeed, a very shameless request to ask of someone. Luckily for him, as it always is, Ratio doesn’t quite mind; whether that was because it didn’t matter where piercings were done, art is art and all that, or that he just drank enough glasses of wine to give him liquid courage. Both possibilities are entirely debatable. He hesitates for a second though, yet ultimately decides the best course of action was to begin tugging down the gray sweatpants, letting it pool around his knees.
Fuck it, he might as well drool.
Ratio has a few secrets up his sleeve, on his back, and inside his pants. All in the name of simply appreciating the aesthetics of body art, a gallery of ink painted on flesh and precious gold etched within it, while spreading knowledge along the cosmos.

"Right," he says, forcing his gaze away. "My, doctor, could one take a guess and assume that some of the relaxation you're referring to is of the more…” He flicks his fingers. “Intimate kind?”
Something curious happens: Ratio stalls. He averts his gaze as his cheeks dust over with pink.
He recovers quickly, however, coughing into his palm and resuming right where he left off. “It would be inane to exclude the potential of intimacy.”
Aventurine is stressed. The knowledgeable Dr. Ratio offers an expert, thorough, only slightly self-indulgent solution.

As a peacock harpy, Aventurine is used to knowing when to artfully strut his stuff to gain an advantage. That all goes out the window when a gorgeous new centaur in town keeps involuntarily triggering his biological response to attract a mate.
Despite the constant blunders and misunderstandings, Aventurine finds himself growing closer and closer to the beautiful and clever man named Ratio. Harpy behaviours are thankfully one of the few things the doctor lacks knowledge in but just how long can Aventurine keep up his nonchalant facade when his tail feathers cause a scene whenever the stallion does so much as smile in his direction?
