Before bending down to spin, her eyes met a pair of grey eyes.

She knew about the tradition, caught onto it by accident. It took her a couple of years and meeting - or at least hearing about - many Blacks to recognize the shared virtue in their names; they were all related to the sky.

Summary
Hermione couldn't hate him for believing what his parents fed him ever since he saw the light of day, and she truly believed that he also didn't feel that way towards her. When it came to proving his loathing, he always hesitated. Multiple times, he faltered to the point that he didn't have to hurt her. He didn't go against the Death Eaters, but he didn't help them much either, and that was enough for her to know that there was good in him.
That's why, for the first time since the beginning of the trials, she personally wanted to speak in favour of him.
