Summary
After the end of the Traveller's journey, there are still people left behind to pick up the pieces of themselves and slowly attempt to live a normal life. Instead of going out in a blazing glory, both Diluc and Ajax are left as red embers to fizzle out in relative peace together.
Over a decade on, Ajax is missing far too much to truly make himself whole and the cracks are becoming more and more obvious as time drags on, threatening to destroy everything the two had worked for over so long.

“...And your name on that?” A disinterested voice replied.
“Uh… Childe with an E.”
“Sure. That’ll be right with you.”
About five minutes later, that same voice called out.
“Order for Childe?”
Picking up his drink, Ajax felt himself blank for a half second. In handwriting that was far too nice for any customer service employee, the words ‘Child with an E’ were written clear as day. His quickly heating face was made so much worse when he looked up and saw what was probably the most beautiful man he’d ever laid eyes on, who was giving him a little amused smile from over the counter.

Summary
It’s been a little over a month since Diluc returned to Mondstadt, and rumors of a mysterious Darknight Hero started to spread. He isn’t fond of the title, but Diluc’s found a way to serve Mond on his own terms, and he isn’t going to let go of it just yet. When the Knights of Favonius are eerily quiet after a group of adventurers go missing in Dragonspine, Diluc resolves to climb the storming mountain and find them himself.
But nothing goes to plan. As he runs into the Eleventh Fatui Harbinger while searching the mountain, Diluc is confronted with the revenge he thought he gave up, and begins to question if this whole Darknight Hero business is flawed to begin with.

“ajax! there you are!” girl-with-dick-drawn-on-cheek exclaims, her grin stretching wider. there’s a razor in her hand that she’s flailing around.
“can’t believe you ditched us, t-dog,” the other guy says, pouting, “that’s totally uncool.” diluc’s eye twitches at the word t-dog.
the guy – ajax, diluc presumes, looks between his two friends with unadulterated fear in his eyes. for a moment, no one says anything. that is, until ajax turns his heel and dives over the veranda balcony straight into a shrub. he does it all in way that seems all too graceful for someone who’s wearing a pastel pink tank top and an obey snapback.
all diluc can do is stare, as ajax gets up from the bush and starts to flee. even ajax’s friends are momentarily stunned, until they follow suit and jump after him (rather gracelessly, might diluc add), hot on ajax’s trail.
alternatively, the one where diluc learns not to judge a book by it's cover. or rather, a boy by his choice in haircare products.
