The question: Do you send a message to Starscream? Or do you wait for him to send a message to you?
If you message him first, you’re admitting that you want him more than he wants you. Is what he’ll say. Because of course he will. And obviously, the solution is to respond with faint surprise, scorn, and just a hint of disappointment, and ask if he really hasn’t outgrown that kind of thing by now. Except then he’ll just keep being smug and ignore your extremely good point, and you know he’ll be doing it just to bother you, and anyways. There are all sorts of other more interesting things you could spend your time arguing about instead.
But the real deciding factor is that if you wait for Starscream to message you, you’re fairly certain you’ll be waiting until the heat death of the universe. Just so he can prove some meaningless, ridiculous point.
So you’ll message him first.

Summary
Once you've taken care of everything urgent, the only thing left is for Metroplex to run a slow diagnostic that won’t be ready for you to review for at least a cycle, so all your attention is on your work. You’re so absorbed in it that you completely miss the surveillance alerts that someone’s on their way up to Metroplex’s control room. It would have caught your optics if anyone was coming in by air, but you almost miss the sound of footsteps, and barely notice in time to shove your half-finished project into a drawer before Starscream walks into the room.
Your spark flares hot in your chest.
He looks you up and down. “Not too terribly busy, I hope.”
Your hands are too empty. You don’t even have a datapad on the desk in front of you. So you lean deliberately back in your seat, spreading your arms wide, drawing even more attention to just how empty your hands are. “Restoring a Titan this damaged is a monumental undertaking. I’d be happy to discuss the details of my work with you at any time, of course.”

Summary
There’s only so many times you can walk in on the leader of your entire planet talking to himself before you start to worry. And the answer is once. That’s how many times.
It doesn’t help either that you’re in the perfect position to see how… alone he is. Maybe he spends time with Rattrap, sure, but you’re not sure that’s a significant improvement from spending all your time solo. The next closest thing is probably Windblade, ’cept for the way she and Starscream are always at each other’s throats.
And you guess that leaves you.

Summary
Starscream kicks Windblade out of his quarters before you’re even properly awake.
From the sound of it, she doesn’t really mind going, she’s just kicking up a fuss to annoy Starscream. Besides, you’re sure she’s got places to go, things to do. Which goes for you too. You’re just in denial for a few kliks longer. Never even mind how the trip to Earth went, you were running short on recharge for ages before that, and sleeping feels nice.
And you’re pretending to be more asleep than you are, even though you know you’ve already gotten more of a break than you were supposed to. You’re mostly awake by the time Starscream comes back into the berth chamber, but your optics are still offline and your ventilations are still slow and even, and you don’t think he realizes.

Summary
Chromedome doesn’t trust you, not like he used to. You still don’t know exactly what provoked him into rewriting your mind, but you… can make some guesses. Whatever it was is out of your reach now, but the damage has clearly been done. But despite that, he keeps reaching out, and you keep letting him. Despite that, what you have now is more than you ever expected to have again. More than you ever expected to want again.
Still, no matter how well things are going, it takes you aback when Rewind comes to your quarters. Alone.
