Summary
“Hey, Legend?” Wild asks, voice a little too cheerful to mean anything but trouble.
“...What.”
“Who’s the person in that statue?” he says sweetly, in the tone of someone who knows exactly who the person in that statue is.
Everyone looks towards it. It’s the one on the fountain Hyrule had seen earlier, of a young hero wearing a simple tunic, long cap, and holding a very familiar sword and shield. Surely enough—
“Is that you?” Hyrule gasps.

Summary
Surge tries harder to scan their form. She catches a hint of movement– but she still can’t tell what they look like. She can see two wings…? Maybe? And the stranger is near-silent, too. She can’t make out any noise besides her own heavy breathing.
They don’t look like they’re about to move. The tenrec grits her teeth, closing her eyes before she gets angry again.
She takes three deep breaths. Notices that two of her quills have come out of her ponytail. She fixes the issue, and begrudgingly answers.
“...I’m Surge,” she says. Her voice is ragged– she coughs to clear her throat. “Surge the Tenrec.”
“I see.”
The stranger hops down from her perch, landing delicately on the ground.
“I’m Rouge the Bat,” she introduces herself, hands clasped behind her back. “But you can call me Rouge.”
-
Surge, recovering from her defeat at Sonic's hands, meets Rouge. They talk.

Summary
“...ome sort of interrogation mode? I didn’t think Eggman would program this in…”
Metal Sonic's optic sensors are still recalibrating, but he analyzes what he can. He’s in a seated position. The sound of typing and clicking comes from behind, slightly to his left, as well as impatient, rapid footsteps. Wires are connected to the normally hidden ports in his back. Two bodies of heat in the room. When he tries to move his legs, he finds them immobile and unresponsive. When he attempts to move his arms, he finds that they're bound to the chair. The rapid whirring, however, makes two voices startle.
“Woah, woah–”
“You can’t move, Metal. Take it easy.”
He recognizes the second of the voices immediately. His obnoxious copy.
-
Sonic and Tails manage to capture Metal Sonic long enough to look through his code, and find a way to communicate.

Summary
But Link knows everyone who lives here. With all the political unrest from Agahnim's reign, tourists to Hyrule are scarce– and yet, here are one, two, three, four… nine strangers all walking together along the trail. Armed. He has to strain his ears, but he can just manage to catch their voices from this distance.
“...We don’t even know where it’ll be.”
“It seems like there’s going to be somewhere indoors we can stay this time, though."
“And with any luck, the Vet will get us in the castle.”
Link bristles. The castle? The one in the scarf is saying something about an audience with the princess, but Link’s not about to let this slide. The knights are in no state to be protecting her right now, and Link’s not half bad with a sword himself.
If there’s anyone who’s gonna stop them, it’s me!Without thinking past that he leaps out of his hiding place, squarely blocking their path and leveling his blade.
“What do you want with the princess?” he demands.

Summary
“What are those scars on your back?”
Legend blinks over his shoulder at Wind’s question. He lowers his arms from where they’d been stretched over his head to take his bloodied tunic off for laundry and twists, trying to get a look at which scars the kid is talking about, but Sky has him beat.
“Those are lightning scars,” the chosen hero says. And then, with apprehension, “where’d you get them from?”

Summary
Link feels like he’s forgetting something.
There are names on the tip of his tongue that he just can't quite recall. Trinkets in his bag that don’t belong to him, scars he’s not sure when he got, tendencies and habits he’s never had before.
Really, he’s been living in his house for a year now. Why is his first instinct to pull out a bedroll at night? It takes him an extra second at dinnertime to remember he has to actually get up and cook it-- what’s that all about? Since when, on his harp, do his fingers drift to notes by muscle memory of tunes he’s never heard of?
But he’s solved a few puzzles in his time. He’s solved seven-- no, six-- (seven? Where’d that number come from?)-- six adventures’ worth of them. And that’s more than enough to figure this single one out.
Write down for the history books that the Hero of Legend is nothing if not curious, and nothing if not determined.
Or: in which the timeline's gotta pretend to stay intact somehow. They all get around it anyways.

Summary
Twilight is tired of being nice. Well, not really, but peer pressure is a wonderful tool. Especially when it helps convince the local rancher to be irresponsible and as un-Timely as possible.
In which Twilight tells everyone he's Wolfie, but doesn't quite tell them which of the others know he's Wolfie...
