She closed her eyes and kept playing.
“Shift down to keep climbing.” The soft, rich voice in her head was unmistakable.
“Second position. I know,” Rumi replied absentmindedly and adjusted her left hand.
“If you say so.” The voice held back a rueful laugh. “I never had formal training.“
“Wait.” Rumi’s fingers stilled and her eyes snapped open. Her tongue hovered below her alveolar ridge to start saying his name, but no sound came. She saw the swirled wood grain on the bipa in her lap. The silvery patterns on her arms. She took a breath. Then another. She heard the rain pattering against her window and Zoey and Mira’s voices in another room. She tried again.
“Jinu?”
No response.

throwing out a fic idea- alex thinks physical contact is uncomfortable and very rarely necessary. But when they learn that they’re finally allowed back in the studio after lockdown but must keep 6’ apart at all times, he finds himself missing the knee touches and hand holding that greg used to tease him with.
