Connie pushed Sprat’s hand away. Oh, but Sprat wanted to talk about it. How unfair of them to dismiss him like that. They had the privilege of just ignoring any question that made them uncomfortable and moving on to something more fun and lighthearted.
Sprat was never given that. Being stuck in that dank cave for two millennia forced him to prod into the parts of his brain he didn’t know existed yet never wanted to poke at in the first place. Discovering the solution to the equation of immortality meant the very fabric of existence balances on a delicate thread, one which was never prepared to hold such a heavy weight. Against his will, he was thrust upon that thread, and he could feel it was on the verge of snapping. He might snap too.

Their heart had grown claws that dug into them. Every time Ryan piped a snarky remark or let slip his intrigue for his latest story, the Professor could feel the claws sink deeper into his skin.
They shouldn’t feel this way, especially towards their friend who was already betrothed to another. He shouldn’t daydream about spending every hour of every day with him, getting to learn every minute detail about him, lying down beside him and telling him he was his, and only his. Yet they not only daydreamed, but fueled their dreams with scrawled-out letters that would only ever see the shadows of their drawers. Every time he caught sight of the pile, he wanted to puke, but the pile grew anyway.

His face. It didn’t look happy to see him, nor did he look displeased. Instead, it looked like… nothing. His face was so devoid of emotion that it pushed the Oar away, and had it been a force, it would have shattered the Oar like glass. The Sword clutched onto his chest like he was about to faint or have a heart attack and not because he was too overcome with love. In fact, he looked like he never wanted to see the Oar ever again.

Ryan and the Professor wandered around the Californian streets, trudging through the unbearable heat as they searched for a meal that would carry them through the rest of the afternoon. Obviously, the best meal to fulfill that role would be a nice hot bowl of ramen that was so spicy a famous ramen restaurant made it a challenge to see who could eat the entire bowl in 30 minutes.
It was a tremendous challenge to take on, but if the Professor could get a stegosaurus plush that looked like his dinosona, then they’re willing to take it on. Besides, they won’t be doing it alone. Several familiar faces, namely Policarpa's Spool, the Beast of Gévaudan and the Gay Oars, will also be participating in this challenge together. What a hell of a bonding moment! And it certainly won’t be one they will be forgetting any time soon.
