Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Dream lost the ability to breathe. He slumped over his desk, hands crushing his headphones as close to his ears as they could press. “I…I don’t know. Maybe.” The words were right there, sitting heavy on his tongue. He had to balance them precariously, speak around them so they wouldn’t fall from his lips. “Maybe.”
Five times George is too far away for Dream to say “I’m in love with you,” and one time he’s right in front of him.

Summary
Dream is blinking fast, and George’s heart breaks a thousand times over because he clearly thinks he’s doing an okay job of holding back tears, but George can see the pool of water in his eyes, thick and glossy and blurring any trace of green. He blinks, and bites his lip, and George is going to die.
“Dream,” he pleads, turning so his back is fully supported in case Dream decides to fall into him completely. “Talk to me. What happened? What's this all about?"
“Nothing,” he chokes. “Nothing. That’s– That’s the worst part. A b-bunch of little… nothings.”
When Dream struggles to hold himself up, George is there.
