Summary
The air is still– Almost too still, too contrasting to the way Jaeyun's mind is running a mile per hour, thoughts thrashing around like annoying bugs towards the light. He is hyper aware of his whole body, the way he is sitting, the way heat emanates off of the other person in the room in pulsating waves.He huffs out a breath and his eyes refocus on his target.
Donggeon looks right down at him with disconcerting, watchful eyes, tongue darting out to wet his lips as Jaeyun sighs again. It isn't uncommon for Jaeyun to find himself in this position– waiting with a bated breath, the weight of the world on his shoulders as he patiently rounds for Donggeon's next move, to be stripped of his most agonizing thoughts and consequently brought back into his sharp mind again right after.
That's what he's doing right now. Willingly giving himself up for a moment; just for a tiny moment, until he can stop fighting with his mind every time the room gets too quiet.

Back and forth, back and forth. The rhythm of Hyeongjun’s legs, swinging in and out, soothes Seongmin. A small smile tugs at the edges of Seongmin’s lips. Hyeongjun’s smile has turned from ironic to bitter, mirthless.
That makes two of us, I guess.
It’s an open invitation. The two of them. Seongmin should be more cautious, he should wonder, but…

Minhee sets a bowl of ramen in front of Hyeongjun, sets another bowl next to the seat Minhee always sits in. Minhee pulls out the chair. They’re sitting shoulder to shoulder, the only sound being that of Hyeongjun’s messy slurping. It takes Minhee back, back to their rose-tinted youth, back when they were young and thought they could do anything, before they became like…like this. He thinks, privately, although netizens say Hyeongjun’s the one that changed, it’s really Minhee. Minhee runs, runs away from his past, runs away from the eight people he knows would come to his aid at the drop of a hat. Hyeongjun though?
Hyeongjun is exactly the same. Standing in the same place, doing the same things. He’s still the only one to consistently reach out to Minhee, the only one who could even make Minhee second-guess his decision to not participate in this comeback. He still bursts into Minhee’s apartment like it’s their shared room at the dorms.

The man shakes his head. "I don't want the club to reimburse me," he replies evenly, resting the end of the riding crop on Sangyeon's shoulder. "I want you to."
