"He was working a case, like many times before, when he was cornered in the parking garage of the building and beaten almost to death by the suspect in the current case, an ex-navy seal. By some miracle, he'd survived. Someone had gotten to him in time, I don't know all the details, not in my current headspace anyway, but they managed to get him enroute to the closest hospital with absolutely no time to spare. A second later and he would've died, they told me.
I didn't think he'd pull through, when Agent Booth and Dr. Brennan had found him in the parking garage, everyone thought for sure he was a goner. The doctors told me he'd died in the ambulance for three whole minutes, but they got him back and stabilized, though not without struggle. He was rushed into surgery to stop the internal bleeding and fix all his broken bones, and they managed to save him."

""Come here," I say as I tug him into the living room with a tight grip on his wrist. He makes a startled noise in the back of his throat, but follows me without a word. I lead him over to the couch, then pull him close to me, leaning in to kiss him harshly before shoving him back so he collapses down on the cushions with a slight bounce at the force.
"What the hell?" He asks, more confused than angry as I climb on top and straddle his legs.
"You're driving me fucking insane is what," I say, slightly breathless from the sight of his confusion that's slowly morphing into arousal."
