In one world Katarina Claes was the reincarnation of a young Japanese girl. In another world, she was not even Katarina Claes. In this world, she was born into an entirely different family, specifically a royal one. This royal family, one may argue, suits her far better than any other family ever could.
So in this world, where Katarina Claes is Princess Katarina Stuart, there may be no traditional doom flags, but there are still her own burdens. A throne to fight for, engagements to be made, courts to maintain reputations and standings in, and a harem to manage of course. This is the cutthroat Katarina with some interesting and eccentric (but still loving) siblings in the chaos of the royal palace. Katarina with her court of females, childhood stories of living with three brothers, and an academy experience of striving to reach the top with many secrets in the closet from as far back as the beginning of Sorcier. After all, the Stuart family, including Katarina, is anything but virtuous. -

It's nights like these, blisteringly freezing nights with a nightmarish tenebrosity, when the regret creeps in, slithering its way into every nook and cranny of his heart, capturing every nerve. Whimpering neurons and synapses crouch for nonexistent mercy from the endless loops of flashbacks.
Surviving a war is never easy, and as Percy deals with the aftermath, he's reminded of all that he's going through. He's especially reminded that pain is much more than the physical.

This is an updated edit of this story with around an extra 4000 words. Gilbert didn't speak to Anne at the bonfire, and this is my take on how his inability to communicate his feelings could have played out. I do not apologise for making him suffer a bit first, he was an idiot with poor Miss Rose and so deserves to have to work hard get Anne to see what she means to him. There is a little bit of Diana and Jerry in there if you squint too.
