“We call it the Second Coming,” the Metatron said as he turned away from Aziraphale and stepped into the waiting elevator. A wave of dread washed over Aziraphale. He looked over to the Metatron, desperately hoping for some sort of sign that he isn't talking about Armageddon. The Metatron meets his gaze with an expectant look, beckoning him into the elevator. The look doesn't do much to quiet his worries, but he gives the Metatron a small smile. He still felt Crowley’s gaze on him. He glanced back. Crowley stared back at him with a mostly blank expression. Except there was the tiniest hint of a question in it. Aziraphale didn't know how to answer it. Instead, he gave the Metatron a reassuring smile and stepped into the elevator.
“Doors closing. Going up.”
“Well,” Aziraphale figured, “There’s no going back now.”

Aziraphale accepts the job in Heaven, leaving Crowley behind on Earth. While adapting to life without their best friend, they learn that Heaven is planning Armageddon.
