As with a lot of life’s more subtle or intricate workings, Din didn’t give much thought to the whole thing. As long as he could successfully support his covert and continue to hunt down his bounties with the accuracy that Karga prized, he figured he was allowed to feel (or not feel) any which way he wanted. And that was how he operated for a long while. Until, of course, he found himself staring at his own question written in spiky black Mando’a on a Jedi’s wrist.

He doesn’t know, at first, that they are there at all, until his baji’buir looks at him, her golden buy’ce tilted, and says, quietly, “I believe you have your words, ad.” She hands him a piece of shining beskar to use as a mirror, and sure enough, curled under his left ear in a slanting script, there they are. Two words: I am.

Just before his eyes slip closed, he sees something else overlaid on what he can actually see — a flash of silver, shining and beautiful. Something in Luke’s heart sings, for just a second, and he hears the Force whispering ‘ this one.’ He strains, trying to see more, but he can’t hold on, and drops down into unconsciousness.

After the Battle of Yavin, the rebellion was on the run when the Mand'alor reached out to them. He offered a safe base out of reach of the Empire, supplies, capable warriors... the catch? He wanted Luke Skywalker at his side. For Luke it was an easy decision, he'd do everything he could to help the rebellion.
But he didn't get much training in with Ben Kenobi and he doesn't know much about the Jedi other than the idea of the Force, the beginnings of how to draw on it for strength. He knows even less about the Sith, and doesn't think to question why Mand'alor Din Djarin has yellow eyes.
