Before Itadori can open his mouth to respond, Sukuna cuts coldly into his thoughts. ‘He’ll think you’re weak. Useless. Why can’t you enter your room alone? Because you’re scared of something that isn’t there?’
It’s new, the way that Sukuna interacts with him.
“Nothing!” Itadori replies. “I was just lost in thought!”

The problem is, Megumi’s sort of trash at this whole talking-things-out stuff.
— They cruise by October, then December, and in the blink of an eye, they’ve finished their first year of high school. Yuuji’s hit his quota. He’s eating fingers, they’re training like madmen, and the everpresent pangs of doom don’t really ease up. When they find the remaining fingers, Yuuji will die.

And if they have another chance, the next one will be one thirty-second. They’ll get infinitely closer to being honest, but Megumi will never be able to squeeze out all the words he needs to. They’re out of time.
WTF!!!!!!! this is seriously a rollercoaster of emotions. fushiguro's pov switches from comedic to tragic to romantic, sometimes all three at the same time. such an amazing fic!!!

Or, in a world where Itadori Wasuke never died, Yuji has been working as a firefighter, blissfully unaware of curses. He takes care of his grandfather, helps out around the neighborhood, and saves cats from trees in a quiet corner of Sendai.
Megumi, on the other hand, is tired of the jujutsu world. When he comes across a young man too good to be true, he falls for him. And Megumi is perfectly happy keeping Yuji in the dark about jujutsu to preserve their small slice of normalcy.
However, Kenjaku never planned on letting Sukuna's Vessel live in peace forever. Soon enough, his plans would come together, and no meddling sorcerers were going to stand between him and his tools.

Yuuji slept, uncaring of his mother’s ministrations. His skin was so delicate, his closed eyelids decorated with blue veins, cheeks round and nose bridge almost nonexistent. The fuzz of his hair was pale, likely to become pink eventually to match his father. Or his uncle.
Some remnant of their vessel, like the last spasms of a dying insect, wished desperately to hold the child in her arms. Kaori had so deeply wanted children, a family.

The vivid clarity of the world around himself, draped in a dark cloak of night that his enhanced eyes saw through as if it were but a thin sheet; the crisp autumn air tickling the inside of his nostrils with such saturation that it almost felt like he could taste the coming winter on the tip of his tongue. The breeze that came from this altitude tickled his bare skin, and despite its ineffectual chill against his strengthened flesh, goosebumps climbed up his neck from the tactile sensitivity he bore against its breath.
Everything felt so real, realer and fresher than it'd ever been. If that made sense, which it probably didn’t.
His senses then were just so alive that he didn’t think he could recall a time he’d ever been so… aware, of everything.
Toji fucking Fushiguro. Who would've guessed. In the middle of Shibuya too, like, really?

Dusk, and the birds have come to roost—Yuuji can hear the clicking and fluttering, the gentle rhythm of their bodies as they settle under the awning outside his window. He stares out the dark glass as he attempts to calm himself, looking for a hint of foot or beak and finding nothing but the city.
It’s been one week since he fled Jujutsu Tech. Not a single person has come to drag him back.
Stripped of his cursed energy and wracked with guilt, Yuuji leaves Jujutsu Tech in the dead of night.
