Midoryia Izuku has known from a very young age that the world is unfair. He knew that he was considered a freak. Nothing but a quirkless deku. He knew that being a hero was something to strive for, but something impossible for him. But still, Izuku held onto hope. He dreamed to become a hero, because then he could save people. That’s what heroes do, after all. So why, after fourteen years of hoping, does his number one idol crush his dreams and leave him to die? How is he supposed to be a hero if he’s trapped, with nothing but notebooks and pencils, on the roof of a not-so-stable building?

“Apparently it’s a representation of Deku, the God of Peace. He was known for his endless kindness and crystal clear heart and at some point was worshipped all throughout Japan. One day he fell in love with a mortal and as a punishment was banished from the god’s realm. Legends say he’s still among us, trying to find the reincarnation of his long-lost lover.” There was a beat of silence, “That’s all that’s said about him. Why’d you ask?”

But... there's a man in a tattered black outfit, with an all too big scarf hastily wrapped around his neck, and some very dry tired eyes. And he's sitting right across from Midoriya, asking far too many questions, and nothing makes sense.
Nothing except the cold metal against his wrists, that bites and binds him to an equally cold table. And that, that he understands very well. Defeat.
