◍ April 28 , 1993 ◍
During a summer day, the sky was a beautiful calming blue with the sun. Although the sun is up there, it wasn't really hot. Some clouds were blocking it from the view of several people. It was the perfect time for children to come out and play.
At the swings in the playground were the Yagami Twins. Who are the Yagami Twins, you may ask? Well, these two are Light and Satsujin. Identical with looks but a little opposite with their personality. Although they both have some difference in looks, people still have a hard time figuring out who is who between the twins. Well, there are some difference between the heights. Light is the older twin yet he's a little smaller than Satsujin.
As their mother stops watching them for a little to talk to a friend , Light looked at his twin.
"Hey Satsujin..." started the older of the twins.
Satsujin looked at Light as he stopped staring at a tree "Hm? What is it?" replied the younger of the two.
Hesitating, Light looked somewhere at the ground but then replied without looking up "I have a secret...but don't tell anyone, okay?" Light looked back up at Satsujin after saying the last part.
"Okay! I won't tell anyone. Now what is it?"
The older hesitated again for a quick second before saying "I can see people's name and their lifespans."
"What? No way. You're lying!"
"I'm not! I promise!"
Satsujin obviously looked skeptical of this claim. "Prove it to me then!" said Satsujin teasingly as he was sure his twin was probably just daydreaming or something.
"Hmm...Okay okay... I'll give you proof alright" Light looked around the playground where many children of different ages were playing at.
Satsujin then pointed to a black haired girl swinging happily on a different swing. He then grinned at Light. "How about you tell me her full name?"
Light smirked. "Kagome Higurashi."
Satsujin was still a little skeptical. "You could just be saying a random name. Hey, Let's go ask her name"
"Hmm, okay."
The two of them stood up from the swing and started walkings towards the black haired girl that has presumably the name of 'Kagome Higurashi' as Light stated.
"Hello!" greeted Satsujin to the raven.
The raven looked up to the twins and smiled. "Hello!"
"What's your name?" asked Satsujin. Talk about being straight forward.
"My name is Kagome Higurashi! How about you?"
At this, Satsujin's eyes widened and his jaw dropped. Light tried to hide his laugh at his twins reaction. The raven named Kagome seemed concerned about Satsujin's expression. " Is something wrong?"
"Ah- Nothings wrong! I just remembered something me and my brother have to do. Let's go Light!"
As Satsujin dragged Light away to the swing they were staying at before, Kagome couldn't help but stare at them confusingly. "I wonder what happened..." muttered the raven as she stared at Satsujin and Light's retreating form.
Sitting back down at the swings Satsujin couldn't help but ask Light. " How..."
"I told you that I can see people's name and lifespan. Well, I'm not really sure if it's a lifespan since it's just jumbled numbers...Well, I'm assuming it's a lifespan anyways..." said Light while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Can you tell me my lifespan then?"
Light looked away with a frown. "I'm sorry Satsujin, I can't."
"Huh? Why?" the younger of the two was confused. Why wasn't his twin telling him his lifespan?
"Well , I can't...I'm sorry."
"It's alright. If you don't feel comfortable saying it's to me then it's fine..."
Light looked back at his twin with pleading eyes. "But please promise me to not tell anyone about my secret!"
"O-Of course! I promise I won't tell anyone. Over my grave"
Light smiled. 'I don't think you will be getting a grave this early.'

◍ September 7 , 1996 ◍
After the twins morning class had ended, they both went to the courtyard and sat down at the grass to have lunch.They were eating in a comfortable silence until Satsujin suddenly thought of something. He decided to speak out his thoughts to Light. " Hey Light..."
Light turned away from what he was staring at to look at Satsujin. "Yes?"
"Wouldn't the world be better and less rotten if all criminals disappeared from this world? Just imagine how safe the world would be!" Satsujin was smiling.
Light looked at his twin in confusion and concern. "Satsujin... we're still ten years old. Aren't you thinking a little too deeply and...dark?"
Shrugging, Satsujin replied back with, "Dunno, just a random thought."
The school bell rang signifying lunch was over and class will be starting again. Several students started getting up to prepare for their next classes while others simply didn't care.
"Maybe think about stuff like that when we're older. Come on, let's head back inside. Our next class is about to start." said the older twin as he put his lunch box in his bag.
"Okay," the younger said, doing the same as what Light is doing.
As the twins stood up, they waved at each other before splitting up and going their separate ways.

◍ January 28 , 1998 ◍
The two were just in their room laying down in bed after finishing their schoolworks, before Sachiko called them from downstairs for dinner. They were about to go downstairs when Light stopped walking. Satsujin noticed this and looked at him in concern. He was about to ask what was wrong when Light spoke first
"Hey, Satsujin..."
"Yeah?"
"Promise that we'll never be apart , no matter what happens, okay?"
Satsujin was shocked and confused at the same time at what his twin suddenly said.
"Of course. We are twins and brothers after all. We're never going to fight each other and even if we do, I'm sure we'll easily fix it." said Satsujin reassuringly.
Light smiled at Satsujin's words. "Thank you..." They both hugged eachother in a nice brotherly moment, enjoying each others presence until they finally broke the hug.
"Come on, mom and Sayu is probably waiting for us."

Light has a thought that bothered him non-stop. He can't stop thinking about, and so he decided to talk to his twin. "Satsujin, what if we hated each other for a long time and never got along again?"
Satsujin was once again caught off guard at Light's words. "That would never happen..." the younger paused a little before continuing with "Nothing can make us hate eachother."
Light wasn't convinced, but he replied back with, "Hmm...I guess you're right..."

Satsujin was curious and interested about Light's eyes. So he decided to ask his brother about it one day. "Hey Light, how does it feel to see someone's name and lifespan?"
"It's...terrifying. When you know what time they will die it's just...hm." The older paused for a bit to gather his thoughts and words. "It won't make you surprised if they die I guess? Still, I feel so bad whenever I see someone so young with such a short life span. I could have done stuff to save them. It's like I just let them die. Like it's my fault..."
Satsujin frowned and patted his brothers back. "Light, It's not your fault. Just because you can see someone's lifespan that's about to run out, doesn't mean you have to save them. Maybe there are reasons why... why they need to die. Um... if you get what I mean."
Satsujin scratched his head at his explanation. Light smiled as his brother tried to make him feel better. "Thank you." said Light
Satsujin was once again caught off guard by this. Light seemed to be great at getting his twin to be caught off guard. "For what?"
"For making me feel better, obviously."
"Ah... It's my duty to make my brother feel better."
"Pftt. You sound like a cop saying that" The twins smiled together at this.
"Hey, wanna learn how to calculate lifespans together? I still don't get the random numbers. All I know is that once it all becomes zero the person will die."
"Sure."

"Hey Satsujin, what do you want to be when you grow up?" asked Light out of the blue.
Satsujin was finally used to Light asking random questions so he easily replied back with "That's an easy question! I'll become a cop like dad! I wanna catch criminals and bring every victim to justice! What about you Light?"
"Me? Well...I...I'm not really sure. Being a cop sure seems fun, but I'm stuck between wanting to be a detective or a defense attorney."
"Hm? Why is that?"
"For being a defense attorney, I want to defend those who are blamed and accused. They don't deserve to pay for the sins they didn't do. As for being a detective, I want to solve some cold cases! Like, wouldn't that be interesting? What's so confusing about it that the cops can't even solve it?"
"Ah, that is interesting. Well, I hope that you get to decide on what you want to be!"
"I hope so too..."
"Light! Satsujin! Time for dinner!"
"Coming, Mom!"
