Work Text:
Touya planned on a quiet night, just him and a good book. Keigo had wandered off with Rumi somewhere, as usual, so it was just him in their dorm room. He could use the quiet. No, he could use the distraction a book provided. Something to get lost in, even for a little while. Something to take him far away from the hero training program the Commission ran. Far away from the troubles that weighed heavily on his mind.
He was about half way through the third chapter when Keigo and Rumi barged in, giggling like a couple of little kids sneaking around in the middle of the night.
Touya peered over his book. “What are you two sneaking around for?”
“We’re gonna go play laser tag,” Rumi said. “Wanna come?”
“Nah, I’m good.” Touya was exhausted. His handler was prepping him to start training for a new specialized division of the Hero Commission. He was mentally and physically drained. All he wanted to do was lay in bed with his book and forget the rest of the world existed.
“Pleasssssse???” Keigo pleaded. “It’ll be fun!”
“Come on Touya! Live a little!” Rumi reached for Touya’s wallet on his nightstand and pulled out the credit card Endeavor had given him for his expenses. “Don’t you wanna treat your best friends and stick Daddy Dearest with the bill?”
Touya pressed his lips. Laser tag. Touya had never played. Endeavor would say such things were a waste of time. But Keigo and Rumi wanted to go. And, really, who was he to deny them?
So Touya found himself in a large dark maze dimly illuminated by blacklights and neon paint. And somehow Rumi and Keigo were on one team while he was on the other.
“Aw what’s the matter, Touya?” Rumi taunted. “Scared you can’t win against us?”
“Oh absolutely. Just terrified. I’m shaking in my boots.”
Keigo laughed at his dry tone. “Well let’s make this interesting then. Loser does Winner’s chores for a month!”
Touya scoffed. “Is that all? You’re on, Feathers. Rumi?”
“I’m game. Lowest total points is the loser, regardless of team. Highest points wins. Middle is off the hook.”
A voice overhead announced the rules, then dismissed them to their respective team bases. Touya walked to the Blue Team base with the rest of his temporary teammates. The music started and the players were off.
Touya weaved his way in and out of barriers. Years training with the Commission gave him, Keigo, and Rumi an advantage over most of these players. Rumi probably had the biggest advantage of all. If anyone could sneak up on her, they deserved to win. Touya took out everyone he came across. But he didn’t linger. He had his eyes on a specific prize.
Finally he spotted Keigo’s wings above the wall of the second floor lookout. Touya smirked. He dashed in and out of the obstacles and barriers, blasting everyone in his way. He darted up the stairs of the red team’s lookout, quiet as a mouse.
“Hey Keigo.”
Before the blond could fire, Touya planted his hand against the wall next to his head and pinned him to the wall. Keigo’s chest visibly rose and fell, his breath quickened as Touya held his golden gaze. He tried to hold his ground, but the twitch of his wings betrayed any attempts at a poker face.
“What’s wrong, Little Bird?” his face inched closer to Keigo’s. “You’re shaking.”
Keigo swallowed hard. “No I’m not.”
“Oh really?” Touya smirked, his nose less than an inch from Keigo’s.
He trailed his fingers along Keigo’s delicate feathers. Keigo shuttered, his eyes half-lidded as he bit back a moan. He leaned into Touya’s touch.
“I see. Not shaking. You’re trembling, Keigo.”
Keigo responded to Touya’s low, dark tone with a small whine.
So there they were. Together in a dark room. Keigo trembling like a leaf and biting his lip to keep from moaning while Touya had him pinned to a wall. Touya wondered what other sounds he could make.
Touya captured Keigo’s lips with his own. His facial hair lightly scratched against Touya. Keigo melted into the kiss. His laser tag gun fell to the ground, forgotten. His arms wound around Touya’s neck. His wings wrapped around them, blocking the rest of the world out.
For a moment, the rest of the world didn’t exist. There was no hero commission. There were no villains. There were no expectations or regulations or rules. They weren’t [touya hero name] and Hawks. They were Touya and Keigo.
Oh how wonderful it would have been to stay in that little bubble.
Touya pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against Keigo’s. Both of them left breathless and flushed by their kiss. Keigo leaned in, trying to recapture Touya’s lips.
But every bubble must pop.
BLAST!
Keigo looked down at his laser tag vest.
“You shot me!”
“All is fair in love and war, Little Bird. And I don’t want to be stuck doing Rumi’s chores for a month..”
Keigo looked at him, stunned into silence.
Touya stole another quick kiss.
“Time to find Rumi. Catch you later, Keigo.”
Touya’s own vest went off, signaling that he’d been shot. Both Keigo and Touya looked up to see Rumi, laser tag gun in hand and a proud smirk on her face.
“If you two wanted a dark place to make out we could have stayed home. At this rate, you’ll both lose. Guess you can split the chores then.”
Touya was about to leave, but Keigo flipped them and pinned him to the wall instead. Touya looked down at Keigo’s face, still flushed and breathing heavily.
“Can I help you, Little Bird?”
“Shut up and kiss me!”
Touya smirked as Keigo kissed him, rough and needy.
In the end, Rumi had more points than the two of them combined.
