Shouto stared up at the ceiling, counting all the tiny imperfections in the paint, as he grew more and more frustrated by his inability to sleep. He honestly wasn’t sure why he couldn’t sleep. He didn’t really have any reason, but he just couldn’t sleep. Nothing felt right, everything was just slightly uncomfortable. He felt how his legs were tangled up with his partners’. It was something that normally comforted him, but right now the hard pieces of metal from Tenya’s engines jabbed into his calves just a little too much and Izuku’s leg that was on top of his felt like it was holding him in place, preventing him from moving. He definitely didn’t like that. He tried to lightly free himself and sat up a little so he could see the alarm clock over Tenya’s shoulder, 3 AM. They had actually gone to bed around midnight, had he really been laying here trying to fall asleep for that long?
He laid back down onto his side and closed his eyes, still desperately trying to fall asleep. Until he felt Izuku shift next to him, before he got out of bed and left the room, which gave Shouto a perfect view of his phone sitting on the nightstand still on the charger. If he wasn’t going to be able to sleep at least he should be able to be on his phone. He quickly reached over and grabbed his phone, before he sat up and started scrolling on Tumblr. Izuku soon returned to the room, sluggishly getting back into bed. He curled up next to Shouto and rested his head on his shoulder before lightly kissing his jaw, “Can’t sleep?”, he asked.
Shouto turned off his phone and laid it on his lap before he moved one of his hands to Izuku’s hair and started to play with the strands, “nope”, he said plainly.
“Something on your mind?”
“No, I just can’t sleep”,
“Hmm” Izuku hummed sleepily in understanding as he clearly tried to force his eyes to stay open, before he nuzzled his face into the crook of Shouto’s neck. Shouto smiled as he continued running his fingers through his hair.
“Do you know you’re adorable Izu”, He said before kissing the top of his head.
“Hmmm”, Izuku hummed again before he wrapped his arms around him and closed his eyes.
“Are you going to fall asleep like this?” Shouto asked and he felt Izuku nod into his shoulder, He let out a soft laugh before he leaned his head back against the headboard. Then out of the corner of his eye he saw two small little paws make their way up onto the bed. His smile grew a bit wider as he saw the rest of the small black kitten stand on the bed. It was clear by the way he was standing that, he found something he wanted to play with. Shouto tried to follow the kitten's gaze a bit confused until he saw that what the kitten was looking at was Tenya’s foot that was slightly sticking out from under the comforter. The kitten got into a pouncing position before he jumped onto Tenya’s foot. Biting his toes and bunny kicking at the back of his heel.
Tenya let out a startled noise and sat up quickly looking down to see what was attacking his foot. He let out a small sigh of relief before he smiled and picked up the kitten before placing him back down on the floor. He seemed to just then notice that Shouto was still awake. He gave him a puzzled look. “What are you doing?”, he asked groggily.
Shouto shrugged slightly, trying not to move too much as he was pretty sure Izuku was asleep again, “Can’t sleep”, he said as he continued to play with Izuku’s hair. He closed his eyes lightly. He was tired, like really tired. He just couldn’t go to sleep.
“Is everything alright?”
Shouto nodded but kept his eyes closed, “just can’t sleep..”
“Have you tried to take your sleeping meds?” Tenya asked, a bit reluctantly. Shouto hated the fact that he had to take any psychiatric medications. He knew it was something he shouldn’t be embarrassed about, but he still was. But when it came to his sleeping pills it was something more than that. Shouto hated having any lack of control, and he felt like his sleeping meds took away any control he did have when sleeping. It terrified him.
“Don’t want to..”, he said softly.
“Are you tired?” Tenya asked him as he sat up fully and grabbed his glasses off the nightstand.
Shouto peeked one of his eyes open to look at Tenya and reluctantly answered, “.....Yes”.
“Then you need to sleep”
“I wish I could”, Shouto knew what Tenya was trying to get at, but he really didn’t want to take his meds. Why couldn’t he just sleep?
“Well…. Perhaps your medication could help with that?”, Tenya said softly. He probably didn’t want Shouto to feel like he was being forced, but he also probably thought it was a good idea.
Shouto finally opened both of his eyes again, “are you going back to sleep?”, If he was going to give up his control he would like it if someone was at least awake and aware of what was going on around them.
They both looked over at the clock, 4:30. “I was planning on it” Tenya said, “but if it would make you feel more comfortable to take your medication I don’t have to”.
“No, you should be able to sleep, I just…. Ugh, I’ll take the meds”
Tenya lightly grabbed his hand, “You don’t have to do anything you aren't comfortable with”.
“I know, I know, I don’t want to, but I’m exhausted”, He was about to get up and go get them till he remembered that Izuku had latched himself onto him and was softly sleep mumbling something into his shoulder, “would you mind getting them ?”
“Of course”, Tenya said before he quickly left the room, coming back about a minute later holding a pill bottle in one hand and a bottle of water in the other. “Here you go”, he said with a smile, handing them to him.
Shouto took an anxious breath before taking the medication and handing the bottle back to Tenya who put it onto the bedside table.
“I hate for Izuku’s sleep to be disturbed, but it would probably be easier to sleep if you were laying down”, Tenya suggested as he pulled the comforter back over the three of them.
“Yeah”, Shouto said before he tried to find a way to lay down without waking up Izuku, but that didn’t work out as Izuku let out a groan and lifted his head off of Shouto’s shoulder.
“What’s happening”, he slurred out, hardly even opening his eyes.
“Just trying to lay down,” Shouto said as his head finally hit the pillow.
“ ..mm sorry”, he said before nuzzling his head back to where it was before, near his neck, still keeping his grip around his shoulders.
Tenya then also laid back down and wrapped an arm around Shouto’s waist and pressed a kiss softly to the back of his head. He laid there trying his hardest to fall asleep, for about a half an hour. He heard the sound of Tenya snoring next to him and Izuku mumbling something about quirk training. Shouto laughed softly, even in his sleep his boyfriend is still a dork. He felt himself slowly being taken by sleep as he closed his eyes. Until he felt a slight pressure on his stomach. He quickly opened his eyes to see the fat tabby cat, Chibi, flopping down on him. He ran his hand through her fur a few times before he was finally able to fall asleep.
