Work Text:
It's been a week since Tim was at Kon's grave and he'd told himself that he wouldn't come back.
Not after the emotions that overtook him last time.
He never could seem to listen to his mind though. Not when it came to Kon.
The full extent of that statement was unbeknownst to Tim.
Tim sat down, legs crossed, just like last time.
"Hey Kon. Yeah, I came back."
Tim takes the bag on his shoulder off, placing it in front of him.
All of this was giving him a strong sense of Déjà vu.
Tim opened the bag slowly, and let out a small laugh.
"It feels so inappropriate to laugh on your grave and I don't know if this is another instance of me being a horrible person, or if it's just the way our friendship is," Tim sighs.
"Was. I gotta get better about that."
Tim reaches in the bag, but before he pulls his arm out, he looks at the gravestone, as if he was talking to his best friend directly.
"Anyway, I promise Kon, I didn't bring you rocks again. They were too heavy."
Tim closes his eyes again. "Lie. Another lie. I would have carried every rock that's ever existed for you. I just felt dumb bringing you rocks."
Tim pulled out 3 picture frames.
"I actually brought memories," Tim placed them in front of Kon's headstone, where the flowers had previously been.
Good to know the groundskeepers did their job.
He looked at the pictures in front of him. The first was a picture of him and Kon, they had been playing video games and Bart had been in his photography phase and snapped a picture without either of them noticing.
It was one of Tim's favorite pictures.
The next was a picture of the whole team, all smiling, unlike how they are now.
The final one was a request from Cassie. It was a picture of them kissing, from the trip that Kon took her on to Kansas.
Tim wasn't quite sure why, but he hadn't laminated that picture like he had the others.
He told himself that it was because he hadn't had time, but that didn't feel 100% true, even to himself.
"Yeah, well, I have to go now, working on a tough case, but I wanted to let you know, I can't hate you. Feeling sad is awful, but hating you feels worse."
With that, Tim got up, and walked away, only throwing a single glance over his shoulder.
