Work Text:
You were hurrying along a path on the forest, your son, Elduin, right beside you. What had started as a relaxing walk had turned out to be nothing but relaxing as a group of spiders had spotted the two of you and now, you were making your way into the kingdom hastily, as this time the group was too big to take down.
A familiar clicking-like noise sounded from behind you and without hesitation, you grabbed Elduin and shoved him away from you, making him yelp in surprise. At that moment, you felt a searing pain on your side and with a howl of pain, you unsheathed your sword and swung it in the air. A thud and a screeching right beside your ear told you that you had hit the spider, and you swung your sword again, making the spider let go of you as you felt the sword collide.
You rolled on the ground and your vision went black for a moment for the pain, making you close your eyes. You felt a small hand on your shoulder, and your eyes shot open.
"Naneth!" Your son was kneeling next to you, tears in his eyes as he shook your shoulder. A sharp pain pierced your body but you still force yourself to lift yourself from the ground.
"I'm here, don't worry, love." You assured him and pulled yourself up from the ground with a little help from a tree branch. Your balance was off but the cracking of branches and the clicking sound was now significantly closer, and you knew that it was a matter of minutes before the spiders would be there.
"Let's go." You pushed your son gently forward.

After what felt like forever, you heard a familiar voice sound through the forest and a faint smile tugged the corners of your mouth.
"Ada." Elduin breathed out and a wave of relief washed over you.
Your husband of nearly two centuries appeared first, showing off as usual, and he was followed by a dozen of guards of the kingdom and they began killing the spiders that had just appeared to the clearing.
"Ada!" Elduin ran to his father and hugged his legs, and Legolas's eyes that were cold as he was staring at the spiders, got warmer as they landed on his son.
Your heart felt warm as you watched the two and you took a step towards them but stopped as another wave of searing pain shot through the wound.
"My lady?" Tauriel was standing next to you, after noticing the blood on the side of your attire.
"I'm alrig-" Your sentence cut off as another wave of pain blackened your vision, causing you to stop talking and grab Tauriel's shoulder for support as you didn't want to fall down.
"You are not alright, let me get Legolas." She steadied you and then walked off before you could argue. There were a few reasons you didn't want Legolas to know. First off, he would get worried over for nothing. And second, he would never let you leave the castle ever again, at least while you were pregnant. You were only two months along, but Legolas was overly protective of you and tended to fuss about everything. That had led you to leave the kingdom, and that was how you had ended up with spiders after you.
"Y/N!" Legolas rushed to you and grabbed your shoulders, inspecting you from head to toe and back.
"Are you okay? Is the baby okay?" Legolas rambled, and before you could answer, he spotted your wounds and he gasped loudly, pulling you closer so you were leaning to him.
"Why didn't you tell anyone that you are hurt? We need to get you to a healer now!" Again, before you could react to his words or his actions, you realized he was carrying you with a frantic pace towards the kingdom.
"Legolas put me down. I can walk..." You tried, but Legolas was having exactly none of it.
No. I'm getting you to a healer." You sighed, defeated as you knew there wasn't anything that could change his mind.
"What about Elduin?" You asked, and Legolas added more pace as he answered.
"He's with Tauriel, and she will take him to my father when they reach the kingdom. It will be good for them, they barely see each other. " You hummed in agreement, Thranduil adored Elduin but they truly never got to spend time together due to Thranduil's enormous amount of duties but you knew that he wouldn't hesitate to push them back to look after Elduin.

You hadn't been far away from the kingdom, and Legolas had made some sort of record in the speed as he raced down the stairs, so now you were being looked over by a healer. She had laughed at Legolas' concern and gently had guided him out of the room after he had been getting in her way.
"The wounds are not deep, come and show them to me every morning so I can make sure they won't become infected. It would be dangerous for the three of you." This confused you greatly. Three... But there was... OH.
"I'm pregnant with twins?" You gaped at the healer, who let out a hearty laugh.
"Yes. Now, let me get your husband, he is most likely very worried and I think that you want to tell him the good news." She left the room and you were alone for a moment and couldn't help but to worry. Sure, the fact that you were expecting twins was good news, but you were still worried about Legolas' reaction. Elduin was lively and adding two babies to the workload you were having seemed like a bad idea. But on the other hand, you were ecstatic. Elduin would be so happy that he was getting two little siblings instead of one, he was already asking when he could meet his little brother. Yes, he was convinced that it was going to be a boy.
"Y/N, are you alright?" Legolas sat down next to you, now calmer but still looking highly nervous.
"I'm fine, love, stop worrying. I have news for you." He tensed and looked at you with frantic eyes.
"Oh no. What is it? Is the baby okay? Are you-?" You cut him off, laughing slightly.
"I said I am fine. I'm better than fine." You lifted your head to look into his cold blue eyes and took a deep breath. You were sure that he would be thrilled but these were still huge news and you were nervous to tell them for whatever reason. You leaned into him and breathed his scent that after all these years was still as entrancing as it had been on the first day you had met him. You took one last breath of air, not wanting to stall it any longer anymore.
"We are having twins." You said, and he stared at you for a moment before his face broke into the biggest smile you've ever seen.
"Two babies?" His voice was ecstatic and you nodded.
"We are having two babies?" You nodded again.
"Two?" You laughed at his antics and nodded again as he wrapped his hands around your waist.
"I am so happy. And Elduin is going to be so happy too." You laid your head on his shoulder and enjoyed the warmth and peace. You hadn't had time for the two of you after Elduin had started walking.
"I love you so much," Legolas whispered and you smiled at him, tilting your head so you could kiss him.
"I love you too." You spoke and pressed your lips to his.
The kiss was cut short as a loud 'CLANG' rang through the entire kingdom, and you looked at each other, having strong suspicions about who had caused it. But luckily, he wasn't your problem at the moment, so you went into another kiss and then third and fourth, wasting no time.
