Okay, so maybe being out in the rain for an extended period of time wasn’t the smartest idea Kurapika ever had. Then again, it wasn’t really his fault. His asshole boss was insistent on making work unnecessarily difficult rather than letting people figure out simple solutions.
Kurapika immediately regretted getting out of bed. Immediately after standing up he went lightheaded and felt super dizzy.
“Owww…” he groaned. Despite only wearing a thin shirt with a pair of briefs, Kurapika felt like he was burning up from the inside out. Nonetheless, it was a Thursday and work called. Despite the pounding in his head and his limbs screaming at him to lay down, Kurapika forced himself up and out of bed. He managed to change and get downstairs without any trouble apart from the pounding headache and running nose.
Though Kurapika tried his best to act alright, there was no fooling Leorio. The man was a DOCTOR, for goodness sake. He would definitely tell something was wrong with his precious boyfriend.
“Morning, love” Leorio yawned as he kissed his boyfriend’s cheek. Kurapika murmured a response and got to work eating a muffin.
“Are you feeling alright?” Leorio asked while reaching a hand toward the blonde’s forehead.
“Mmmm. I’m alright.”
Just by looking, it was obvious Kurapika was indeed NOT alright. He was deathly pale, his cheeks flushed, and snot was running from his nose. Leorio compared the smaller man’s temperature with his own.
“Geez, you’ve got a bad fever, babe. What happened?” Leorio immediately got a glass of cool water while Kurapika explained.
“Boss called for me. Went across the street, but he was stuck in a meeting. I was locked outside for a while. But I’m fine-” Kurapika fell into a coughing fit before he could even finish his own sentence. Leorio pushed the glass of water towards his boyfriend. The cool water sloshed down Kurapika’s throat, providing instant relief.
“What an asshole.” Leorio grumbled. “How long were you outside? WAIT! Did he lock you out in the RAIN?!”
Kurapika mumbled an answer. Leorio furrowed his brows in confusion as he waited for his boyfriend to repeat his answer.
“It was...one- no… two hours…”
“Jesus, Kurapika!”
“I’m telling you I’m fine!!”
“Like hell you are!!”
Kurapika groaned. His head started to ache with all the noise, and his stomach was even more upset from the food he shoved down.
“Bathroom...Now.”
Leorio helped Kurapika to the bathroom. While his boyfriend hurled, he made sure to contact the blonde’s agency saying he was sick and could not come in. Luckily enough, Leorio himself was the doctor on call this week so he could take care of his patient here at home.
“Pika?” Leorio knocked at the door.
“Come in…” was the only weak response Leorio received.
“I contacted your agency. You can’t go to work like this.”
“Mmm…”
“Can I help you draw a bath? The warm water will be good for your aches.”
“Mhm…”
Leorio truly hated when Kurapika was sick. While he loved pampering his boyfriend, he couldn’t stand seeing him in pain. He maneuvered the blonde back to their shared bedroom and gently helped him undress before wrapping him in a pink, fluffy bathrobe. (Because honestly, he just looked so damn cute when he wore it.) Leorio made sure the bathwater was an adequate temperature before adding some epsom salt to help boyfriend relax.
“C’mon Pika. I’ll help you in.”
Leorio carried his small, fluffy Pika to the bathroom before helping his disrobe and step into the water. Kurapika let out a content sigh, happy to be enveloped into the warm water. He soaked for about ten minutes before Leorio coaxed him out and into a big, fluffy towel. After helping dry off, Leorio grabbed some pain meds as well as another glass of water.
“Do you think you can drink this for me, Pika? I can grab some crackers to help as well.”
“Crackers please.” Leorio nodded and grabbed the crackers while Kurapika took the pain medication.
After some more pampering, Kurapika finally settled into the bed for a nap. Not without taking Leorio down for cuddles, of course.
Leorio gently kissed Kurapika.
“I love you, Pika.”
“I love you too, Mr. Leorio.”
With each other still in arms, they drifted off to sleep.
